Silkie saga

Poor guy, tough boy can't even get off the roost! :gig Underneath all that hard character is a sweet Chonkers. 😊❤ Hopefully the girls didn't damage his ego too much. ;) Thanks for sharing, I needed a bit of joy! 😊
Well, if you need a little bit of joy today, here's an adorable newsflash!!! My hubby caught the oldest black cockerel doing his first crowing attempts this morning 😊 he said he would make a little crow, then look around like he was part scared and part proud 🤣 I'm getting attached to that big softy!

Absolutely, posotively GORGEOUS!! ❤❤❤❤ Seriously, stunning looking birds, you just want to keep staring at them!! Thanks for sharing your babies, just beautiful birds!! :love

Here is the gorgeous Cappy Llama, I'm pretty sure my silkies love the mud because they can slick their crests back to see better 🤣 her attitude though 😳

I've finally named all 9 of the new silkie chicks, the blacks are: Norman, Dash, Rainier, Ivy, and Hungry Jaq (I'm pretty sure this one is a cockerel 🤣 he's a growing boy and MUST EAT EVERYTHING!) The splash chicks are: Mistletoes, Sprinkles, Jane, and Sugar Cookie.

My cockerels for sure are, Norman, Dash, and Mistletoes. The maybe cockerels are Jane, Hungry Jaq, and Rainier. My "I really hope you are pullets!" are Ivy, Sprinkles, and Sugar Cookie.

Norman is happily working on his crowing, I think I've heard someone else make a few crows too but I'm not sure who it is.

Aww.... love the names! ♥️ It will be fun to have some Christmas themed birds all year round. 😊 Hopefully you don't have too many Cockerels? Gotta love those young boys practicing their crowing, they try so hard! 😅

Not silkies, but my oldest girls, the BAs who are turning 4 in a month or two have started laying again! Such a beautiful sight, a perfect light cream colored egg 🥰 I'm sure Jersey is laying again, she's back to being her typical mean self. She bit me and flogged me repeatedly when I tried to pet her this morning 🤣 I know it's horrible, but it just cracks me up to no end. I ignore her and get a few pets in anyway. Her fresh feathers are beautiful and she has definitely gained all her weight back. I picked her up this morning and was pleasantly surprised with how atout she is.

I have learned a little more about the silkie SOP and did a really quick look at my oldest birds, hmm, more time is needed to really evaluate them, they are still young. But here's Chonkers, doing his best to be as tall as the ladies he's in with. Definitely has too high of a head carriage, but his comb isn't as bad as what I was originally thinking. Go Chonkers!

This one is still way too young to judge too much, she is only 8 weeks, but she's got a square going on instead of a globe. I'll see how she grows out, if her crest is too much I'll cross her with a smaller crested rooster and see what happens. I have a quite the selection of unrelated black cockerels so this is no issue 🙄
Her head is all floof!

I too had a biter, a Black Australorp hen that bit and flogged me. 🤣 She was incorrigible. Drew blood! What can you do but ignore them! :D

Oh wow, Chonkers is turning into a very handsome dude! ❤ I love his size and stance. He looks so soft and gentle! 💖

I just love the floof on the girl above!! She is so adorable, just floof and beak! 🤣

Always nice to see your babies, thanks for sharing! 😊
