I'm really thinking roo on that one....comb is huge![Pic heavy!]
Glad I found this thread! I have one silkie I'm antsy to find out about. And now I'll have this thread saved for the other two I'll be sexing in a few weeks! This'un is 6 - 6 1/2 weeks old, so maybe still too young to say for sure, but worth a shot. Gut tells me roo, but crossing fingers for a pullet as it's my only white.

If it's too soon, I'll just try to hold my horses and wait a few more weeks.
And, although the quality is terrible, I had to include this one for funsies because of Little Miss Photo-bomber there. I swear she tried that in all my cage shots.

That is a roo. It's comb and wattles are way to big to be a hen. So sorry its not a girl for you.new to byc & chickens didnt know this thread... I posted something earlier, before finding this thread. we found this chicken in Jan 2013 we took it to the vet he said it was female, 2 other people have said it is female, yet reading this thread it sounds like our girl is now a boy. It has started crowing the last few weeks not everyday and only in the morning it has never layed an egg. Vet & other person has said it was fully grown but since Jan it has almost doubled in size, please help as we live in suburbs & can't keep roosters, my girls have become attached to this cute friendly silkie. first photo is when we first found her/him, other 2 photos taken yesterday.![]()

Thanks Momma 2 silkies, I sort of expected the bad news after really researching online and looking at other photos. Now I have to find someone to give it to, since we found it roaming the streets. My girls are a bit upset but happy we can get more chickensThat is a roo. It's comb and wattles are way to big to be a hen. So sorry its not a girl for you.
