silkie sexing

What makes it a boy? We have two that I'm trying to sort out gender on. Thanks

See those fly away hairs sticking out the back of his crest? Those are streamers. Only roosters get them. That was the giveaway for me. Plus he's crowing :) you can always post pictures of yours and folks here can try to help. :)

Thanks for the feedback! I can't believe 3 out of 6 chicks are roos... grr... I still love my Penelope. But there is no way I can keep 3 roos in the city. She/he is staying tho!

These are my 6 week old silkie chicks. It's probably a little early too early to tell, but I thought I'd consult y'all anyway. Their names are Bonnie and Clyde, so obviously I've had my suspicions since day one.

Hi there....I am by no means an expert and this is just a guess, but MAYBE the gray one a cockerel and the white a pullet.

Only because the white looks just like mine with a little comb and the gray has a bigger comb which is similar to my other one who we think is a boy. I could be completely off but just trying out some new knowledge from learning to sex by looks at this age. I have 3 Silikes at 8 weeks so I'm super interested in this age and sexing as well. There will be much wiser info than mine to come and best of luck to you

Thanks @ashtree @collmichelle and @lightchick , that's exactly what I've thought since I got them. The grey has always had a bigger personality, so I just figured cockerel. But I honestly haven't the slightest idea when it comes to these things. I'll post more pictures as they get a bit older.

I posted a new thread without knowing this one existed! Lol, sorry! I have two silkies, over 5 weeks. White is Yeti, black is Boots. I'm hoping for hens. Did I get lucky?
