Thanks for your answerYep it's normal. I've had a silkie crow at 3 weeks old once. My husband and me couldn't believe it. From what I've seen most of mine started between 3 and 5 months old.

Who could resist the adorable little fluffy butts ?
My first male Silkie crowed at 13 weeks & started trying to mate the females at that age as well. I think my other male Silkie waited until about 6 months before he crowed. That's impressive! My 9 month old roo still hasn't made a sound yet! But I have a couple 5-6 monthers that crow enough for all four!
She is probably getting bullied by the large fowl breeds. I would suggest setting up a second water & food station if you have to keep them in the same area together. I think that is why most people try to have a separate coop & run for their Silkies. My Silkies & large fowl interact throughout the day, but I have a small coop & run just for them. Their run is connected to the other runs, but there is a door I can close if someone starts playing rough with them.hey everyone, i was wondering how many time should my silkie drink, right now i don't know how many time she drinks a day, but when i get home from school i let out my big chickens and she than drinks a lot. is this a bad thing or should i go and get another water jug? i do think she might be going during the day.
the poor thing is all alone now but it looks like shes doing well, hopefully we are going best friends now, because before they both didn't like me.
Silkies aren't much for roosting because they don't fly well with their type of feathers. I have a wood box made that I have on the floor of their coop. That is where all mine sleep because they love to pile up in a Heep. I added a second box in their coop when momma Silkie was raising 5 babies recently. She & the babies slept in the second box until the chicks were about 5 weeks old. Then one night when I was locking them in for the night I always check to make certain everyone made it in. What did I find when I opened the door? One big pile of Silkies in the large box lol. I removed the extra box & everyone is happy.I have a mixed bunch of chickens I am getting ready to put in new poop board and lower roosts . But as of yet my silkies will not go on a roost what should I do. They just starting to lay they sleep under the bigger girls and are pooped on all night and not only do they lay in everyone else poop they sleep in their own.and are now laying their eggs there to. they will not even jump 2inches to go in the nesting boxes which I show them every day after I put their fresh egg in it. HELP.I also made them a little roost like I saw on amazon they rather lay in ****.
