Hi! (Haven't been on in a while)
My silkies have grown quite a bit, i'm super happy cause none appear to be white, they look buff to me, but i'm not sure, any ideas?
This is jade she has buff and grey feathers it looks like to me.
Here is Twix she looks smaller (not sure if that's her age cause I got them both in the same bin/not really a bin, that said they were a day old) in the beginning I was worried cause twix's feathers looked to be getting whiter now they have gone orange.
(Yes, there is a coconut shell in the background, I use it to scoop grain)
I will be getting some porcelain silkie chicks soon and I was wondering if anyone was familiar with their genetics and breeding. I usually just stick to blue/black/splash silkies so this is new to me.
Hi Everyone!! I Posted a thread to introduce myself and to see if anyone has any Silkie or Frizzle Chicks in Oregon (the west side of portand) and I think I should have posted it here in the Silkie thread.
I am looking for Silkie or frizzle chicks, like I mentioned, I have a Tiny bantam rooster, and 3 Silkie hens right now. They are all free range. They are all pets as well, But I do consume the eggs. I was told in the other thread that Silkies are not good for free range because they are sitting ducks due to their obvious obstructed view. It's been 4 years and they have done just fine being free range. I do not have any different breeds (besides the rooster not being a silkie) so they will not get picked on because they look different. (was told that as well) With all that being said, If anyone has any chicks in the washington County area of Oregon I would love to hear from you! Thanks! Have a beautiful day.
