Love my silkies. I was very surprised that my male was so very tentative and acted like the daddy of the chicks.

I got my first pullet egg today, from the first silkie eggs I ever hatched back in May. She's exactly 6 months old. She let my cockerel mate her last week. (Which made me think she was close). Then today she went to the coop and moved the fake eggs I put In the nest boxes to a little nest that she made right outside the nest box. Then she sat On them and laid the cutest egg I've even seen! She's my fav anyway, and now I'm just In love!

So Paris Hilton has a party Chihuahua?
Well I’ve got a party CHICKEN.
Take that, Paris!
Love it! Great pic!

Okay, so I've got a fluffy problem on my hands..... my buff bantam silkie rooster is starting to mount my Barred Rock hens, and silkie pullet in the mornings, and this causes quite alot of racket to come from the coop, not to mention the thought of a chicken coop sounding like a brothel in my backyard isn't the most inviting/wonderful when im trying to sleep . I need to get rid of him. give away, sell, doesn't matter as long as he isn't getting eaten. and anyone interested is local. does anyone live in Arizona that is looking for a Buff Bantam Silkie Rooster? He is really super sweet, and I was thinking about keeping him, but now that he is attempting to breed, I just cant keep him.He isn't show quality, but he is a great pet.

Hi, just recently hatched my first silkies and was wondering if anyone knew if these spots will stay with the chick?

Also, the dark gray one... Any opinions on what color it might be? Maybe blue or splash?

Is he your only rooster? I mean, any male is going to "try" to breed any of the females. Its their nature. I understand the sound of the commotion, but it will level out with a little time, if he is just starting, so maybe give him a chance? And if he isn't too rough on them, the girls kinda like it too!

But if you never plan to hatch the eggs, and you'd rather just get rid of him, that's completely up to you. I was just tossing out my 2 cents.

The spotted one should be splash, and the grey on is considered blue.
