Silkie thread!

I would say yes. I currently have a silkie, a silkie/fav mix and an NN that brooded all together and are now caring for all the chicks together.
Forgot to add that when all the chicks are under one hen, the silkie/fav will then lay on top of that hen and they are perfectly fine with it! It is quite the odd group!

Here is a pic of the 3 stooges and some of their chicks!!

Thanks! I think they are happy???
These girls are quite funny to watch. When I let them out in the morning the NN (annie) is always first with her wings all puffed out like a muscle bound weight lifter, then comes the silkie/fav (Phyllis) and Precious the silkie girl is last. Their first time taking the chicks out of the coop was hysterical. The NN was trying to kill everyone, Phyllis was trying to call the chicks back into the coop and Precious just ran back and forth screaming hysterically! LOL
I have to get a better pic of the silkie/fav laying on top of the other hens at night. The one I got came out to dark. I just love watching these girls care for the chicks!!! They all hatched six chicks total.

So much of it is up to the individual Silkie! Sometimes you will get a rooster who is territorial, or a hen with an attitude. However, unless you know one of them to have a bad personality, I wouldn't expect them to be a problem for Seramas.

I don't have any experience with the Serama breed personality, so I don't know if the Seramas are likely to be a problem for Silkies!

However, if there is only one rooster in the mix, it ought to work out fine. A Serama boy is small enough that he won't squash an average sized Silkie hen... and a Silkie boy might not be able to catch up with a Serama hen!

I wanted to show you guys this cute animation... from a French website, aristosoie.org which is all about keeping Silkies. It's on a webpage which talks about how Silkies can be tamed as pets, and can learn their names... This hen is responding to her own name being called by the animator. Look at her go!

The little caption afterwards, says:
"Yes? Is it feeding time?"

Here's my Cochin Maybelline with her six foster silkie chicks. The chicks came from TSC (Maybelline sat on six undeveloped eggs for three and half weeks), so I don't know what they will look like when older. Any ideas?

anyone know if a sort of cuckoo is normal on lavender or splash?

I have a chick that is from my lavender or splash chicks that unlike the others looks to have a sort of cuckoo markings on the wings.

I tried to take pics but its just too light I will try again tomorrow.

Teresaann24 is it patterns or barring ? So many have partridge patterning . Here's a pic of a chic with really strange markings that hatched out yesterday .
