Silkie thread!

I showed some silkies today (in the junior show) and my blue pullet didn't do as well as she did at the last show(this was my second time showing). She didn't get anything at this show but got best of breed at the last show. I understand that judges are different and some like things better than others. The judge said that I might have over cleaned her but at the last show she got best of breed and I bathed her 3 times, this show she was bathed 2 times(any bathing tips)? Also he said that her crest isn't big enough(pictures below of her crest) and she didn't have enough feathers on her feet(which I agree with). Anyways the judge said that the white silkie cockerels I showed were just average and weren't any good.I was thinking maybe I just didn't clean them good enough and they weren't white enough?? I'm selling one of the white cockerels because I have to many cockerels. I was just wondering if this cockerel is any good(In my opinion hes one of the best silkies I have)? He did get reserve variety out of three birds, one of the birds was my other silkie cockerel(who didn't get anything). The one that got best variety was a white silkie hen(not mine).
Sorry I don't have any good pictures of him when he was all clean, besides the picture of him at the show.

His feet(not the best picture, he wouldn't stop moving):

Wow! Tough judge! Even though the standard calls for a medium crest it's my understanding that some judges only want a huge crest. Your girl has great type! I think whites have the toughest competition. Hopefully the judge gave you some pointers and didn't just say he's no good. You must have had your hopes way up after the last show. That is so hard...

I should say, obviously my main thing is white BUT I think I am going to have to build another pen for partridge
as I really like them too. I have two lovely young pullets from Bobbi Porto. Also, I wish I had room for more because
I LOVE this splash pullet but what am I going to do with her??!!

I mean, is there any other way? Do breeders with all the colors have that many pens?
I was wondering if I could keep my white and partridge together somehow? I guess I will just separate
the pen - divide it - and just build another coop.
Well, you could send her to me!!! She is gorgeous!!

:)

Thanks. Thanks everyone. I have thought I should probably put her up for auction, as she is nice and someone
who loves splash as much as I do white might want her. Problem is she is too sweet! She's my favorite as far as
personality so to speak. A cuddler and talker too...sigh.

Thanks!! All I remember the judge saying was that the white silkies were just average especially compared to the blue pullet, when we showed him which white silkies are ours.He said something about them being bad, but I can't remember since its been a looong day. He didn't even explain to me why the white ones are bad, that's why I posted on here to see if there was anything wrong with him

Yikes! I thought they both looked really, really nice - especially the blue pullet.

Thanks! I just hope my next show isn't as bad as this one was.

I know it's got to be hard to do but I think it's really important to ask the judge for details, then if you don't agree with him you make sure you don't show under that judge again.

Well, before you sell your Splash, take a look at my baby girl here on the right! She was sired by a dark blue w/gold leakage, and out of a Blue Splash (I say blue splash, NOT partridge splash) hen. He was the only roo in the pen, and I watched my Splash girl lay the egg and marked it immediatly! Now the roo was born with the typical Partridge markings (chipmunk stripes), but then turned dark blue with the autosomal red leakage. I don't know how it all adds up genetically speaking, but this is what I got!
