Silkie X Bantam Cochin Breeding Q

Here we are in the morning! Dry, fluffing put, and finding our footing. Lots of silkie traits - black skin, 5 toes, very fluffy and long first feathering. Lavender underbelly & beard with black back/head.

They are the blue ones

Awhhhhhhh gosh soooo cute !!! I’ll bet it will become more blue like mine are….. lighten up….. although I think mine were a little lighter when they were born. That light color on the chest hopefully stays! I love looking at the babies and watching them change !! Lemme see if I can find a pic of bell and belligio when they were first born

Updated photo of my first hatchling. I’m wondering if sexing them by their feathers would work for this mix with the bantam cochins I used the technique and was 5/5 correct.

Will do!! Had one little baby hatch this evening! So far it looks black with gray/white and appear bearded. Still drying off rn.

Oh gosh sooooo cute can’t wait for the dry off !

I think 6 months we haven’t had the spring chicks Lay as of yet…….. we’re still waiting…. We had a hatch of a few other breeds but wanted to do the two eggs with silkie and lavender olive egger Roo

Here is a new picture of Bellagio! His comb has grown to be too big ! I think I am going to have to super glue it or something to hold it back it kind of covered his eye ! Uhgggg he has the craziest leg feathers ! So far he is in with another rooster and is the more docile one…… thank god because we have had issues with roosters we have had to rehome a few now I’d really like to keep him tho!

What a gorgeous bird! I’ve recently had to rehome one of my roosters because he was getting picked on far too badly for my liking. Nothing more beautiful than rooster feathering though!

So cute! I have a Birchen Cochin Rooster and I have silkies and other hens but my silkie went broody and hatched 2 babies July 5th out of 6 eggs first time momma and not he of them have black skin but One of them have 5 toes like a silkie the other one does not have 5 toes like a silkie. First and second pic is them at 3 days old. Rest is today I believe they’re both cockerels. We shall see. All black one is the silkie and the one with white like my birchen Cochin only has black skin like it’s momma. Rest pics is dad and mom. My showgirl silkie is pic with babies hatched them she stole the eggs to hatch. This is what my Cochin silkie mix look like. The last pictures are what my Cochin/ silkies hatched last year that my friend has. Can’t wait to see what your babies look like.
