Fur-N-Fowl, those are beautiful silkies. Do you know what the difference is between a cuckoo and a barred?

I'm not 100% on this but I believe the cuckoo and barred pattern comes from the same gene but one pattern appears more clear and defined, whereas the other looks more blotchy and smudged.

So in silkies, I believe all with that pattern are known as cuckoo silkies because their feathers prevent the pattern from looking as clear and defined as the barred pattern.

I think slow feathering and fast feathering can play a part in it too.

I know this isn't the thread for this, but I have an important question.

My Wheaten Crele chick is showing signs of Coccidiosis infection. I'll be picking up Corid, liquid form tomorrow for treatment. What would the dose be for a 6 week old chick be if I give it orally?

Here's my Silkie cockerel named Scaredy.

Cuckoo, almost all still have red combs, light skin and eyes etc. Still being 'perfected'. I've only found one breeder who had achieved black skin and comb and dark eyes on cuckoo silkies.

Here's my Audrey:

I sold her a few months back because I didn't want to use her for breeding. I loved her but she didn't get on with my other silkies either :idunno
