I plan on brooding them inside with a heat lamp.As chicks they need to stay very warm. Typically people keep them indoors with a chick heater plate or a heat lamp. Once they are fully feathered (after 6 weeks) they can go outside in a proper coop. But for me.. if its cold, i just keep them inside until its warmer outside (while they are chicks).
Yes, but you don't need both. See whats in stock or whats most affordable for you. There are 2 packs of the save a chick, a green and an orange. You can mix them together (per the measurements on the instructions).
Not to question whether it's necessary, but why?I saw your post about the hardware cloth.
Make sure you put a hardware cloth apron or skirt about 1 foot out from your coop and run. It is easy to keep flat on the ground with 6 inch landscaping staples. Expensive but so worth it.
I need to do this once the run is in place. I swear, longest move across a yard evarrrrrrrr!!I saw your post about the hardware cloth.

To keep predators out. Some can dig easily under the fencing or under the coop if you have a dirt floor. Not to question whether it's necessary, but why?
Nice to have on hand when birds need a little pick me up.I think I'll get the nutridrench.
