In keeping with the "who's-a-roo?" game...here's my contribution. My wife is convinced Petrie here is a roo...though I'm not convinced. Any input? Thanks!
He's a little rooster. We had one and gave him to our friend. His wattles and comb developed so much quicker. He's about 9 weeks old now and he's starting to take command of the girls.

I wish I had had other SLWs to compare to. That would make this easier. But I appreciate the two responses so far. Can anyone give me hope that he(?) is a hen? Or should I call the breeder in the morning? :/ Sent from my XT926 using Tapatalk 2

This is my SLW chick that I was concerned about, he's about 3 months here. The blue tail feathers started coming in a week or two ago and I think I finally have to admit that this is a rooster.

Well, he's beautiful! I don't know much about SLW's, but I do know that if their wattles and comb develop earl - it's a roo.

Okay.... I picked this one up 4/10. As for age, I'm not 100% sure on it, but I would day under 3 months? Marsala here hasn't been crowing at all, but I have noticed she has this queer curl to her tailfeathers now, and I'm beginning to wonder if my she isn't a he? I read somewhere roos tend to be more leggy? Well.. we definitely have LEGS. I'll try to get better pics tomorrow. Can almost see the tail curl.

She looks like the one I have. I gave away a roo slw to my friend and I knew it was a roo because of the waddles and comb were RED at 6 weeks. Last week Around April 27

Hi all,

So I am pretty new to this chicken game. This chick was wandering around at my horse barn and his family is all dead and wasn't roosting high so I took him home so that the raccoons wouldn't get him. Long story short, I was hoping you might be able to help sex him? From what I have seen it looks like he might be a rooster? I have no idea how old he is but is at least a few months if not 3-4mo. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks :)

He is very pretty! Your estimations of gender and age look right. Chickens are flock animals and he is likely stressed from watching his family get killed. You might want to consider some hens for him. Don't get just one or two though. Roosters can be rough on hens if there aren't enough.
