Silver Lackenvelders No eggs Whats up?

I have Silver Lackenvelders 18 months old but new to us. Have had them for several weeks but have only got 5 eggs. Should they not produce more eggs. 1 Roo 3 Hens two with bare backs from breeding. Figure 2 hens have laid because standard looking egg and oblong eggs. Previous owner had mentioned one hen laid oblongs. What can we do to up this egg production beside artificial lighting. Any suggestions. Thanks MHO

Without increased lighting you'll be eating a lot of chicken!

There may be some just finishing a molt as well. Chickens take breaks, even good layers, and this time of year until what, March? They need extra help and for us Northerners that means extra light.

Thanks for the reply. We are working on finishing touches for winter coop so I'll add some timer controlled lighting in the mix and see how it goes. Our RIR' are still egg a day girls. Lighting should help all of them to keep going.
