Sis Deserves A Beatdown

There's a product called Lice R Gone by Safe Solutions that works really good. It's enzymatic and not chemical. It causes the louse to shed it's exoskeleton which kills it. And it has a great peppermint smell. The hard part for me was the nits. So I was told that 20 minutes in conditioner will crack the glue bonding the nit to the hair shaft and it will easily come off. It worked. And the constant washing and cleaning. Oh and put all the stuffed animals in trash bags for a month.

Find some mustard oil and put it in your hair and your daughter's hair overnight. You may have to go to an Indian food store to find it. (if you live close to Arlington there is a store called Indo Europe or something like that across from Arlington high school on Park Row dr.)

After you put this on your hair, put a plastic bag covering the hair only and then wrap in a towel. Sleep like this overnight, and in the morning wash it all out. The bugs should be gone. '

The one time I had lice, I tried all the shampoos but they didn't work. My grandma's from Pakistan so she did this, and I never had to repeat the treatment.

HAIR DRYER!!!! This one is well scientifically proven! I'll post the link as soon as I can find it again.

Same idea, cooks those little eggs and even simply the air blowing through the hair apparently keeps the nits form getting a good grip.

We just went through this in the spring and now this fall one of DDs friends tells MY DD that she hates me for sending her over for an overnight because now her DD has lice again.

Excuse me?!?!?! My DD has not had one louse or nit since June!!! And who says something like that to some one else's kid?!?!

So now I am back to checking my girls every night because I suspect it is back at school......

OUCH! As mad as I am at Sis I would never try and make KK feel bad for something like that. Not like SHE has any choice in where her mom has her, or in this case where CPS placed her... that's just flat out mean... I hate people that pick on little kids.

I know just what store you're talking about Break, DH and I met (and graduated) from AHS.

We're poda re-treat in 7-10 days... think maybe I'll try one of these methods instead.

Going to look Friday/Sat (payday) for the peppermint spray stuff (I do have pep oil if someone knows how to make it) and I'll look about for some Tea Tree Oil for prevention.

Then I'll head on down to that shop and see about some Mustard oil... we could do that Sunday, DAY, first thing in the morning and take it out in before supper and be all set... but maybe blow dry and straighten DH's and DD's just to be doubly sure.

GAH, this is a frustrating thing... I hate parasites.

Oh Oh Oh... (imagine a monkey)

Just had a thought here... hair dryer and straightener have both been mentioned as ways to cook the buggers yes?

And then with bedding/clothing it's HOT cycle on the wash to kill them (or is it drown them?)

So... is there any reason for us not to figure that putting a pillow (or whatever) into the dryer and frying it for a while wouldn't kill the buggers just as effectively??

And... if that would work, anyone want to give an estimate on the time, starting with a dry pillow mind, that would be needed to sufficiently fry?

Ohhh can't wait to hear if this will work... none of us are much looking forward to diminished pillow supplies/plastic crackling on the ones we don't put in bags for a month.

Also, seems like the principle would work for stuffed animals as well, but you'd have to watch the plastic eyes and such... any times on that time or just check now and then?

Put things on high for twenty min. in the dryer.. To kill the lice. The tee tree oil can be bought a a natural health food store, I bought the stuff for the cleanings the face the first time and used it has a shampoo. (Cause the %of tee tree oil is higher. then the % for shampoo's) Then now I use, just a cheap spray container with water, and the tee tree oil mixed with the water.

Excellent!

One more question then.... how much water to oil? Only recipes I know are edible so tips there will help.
And is that for bedding, carpet etc spray or for hair spray? Or both??

And would the same numbers work on the peppermint oil? Seems I read that helps with fleas too?

Same ol' same ol'. I did let MIL know, she kinda flipped... I just said "I found bugs in DH's hair" so she of course squawked "DID SHE GET THEM FROM OUR HOUSE?!?!?!?!"... but I assured her about Sis's behavior, KK's haircut and current living quarters... she's okay not but it was skitchy for a moment.

I'm hoping I can get to the Indian Market to find some Mustard Oil tomorrow, worst case Saturday. Depends on when checks are done really. The kids also have their belt tests tomorrow... DS is going for Blue, DD for Orange... so a bit of a crunch.

And lest we not forget, tomorrow is the anniversary of the signing of the Constitution of the United States of America. A very important day for every American. But even more so for HSers who give a fig no?

tea tree oil in your shampoo... about a dime size in your hand with your shampoo.. let it sit on hair for 7 min and rinse.. do again in a week and again in another week.. No worries... Bugs will be gone...regardless of whether you strip your house... It kills em dead...REally... You can just pour some in your shampoo bottle and leave it in the cupboard...Have everyone use it... It has a strong smell but not entirely unpleasant... Totally cheap to buy and a lot more effective than the pesticides you buy from Wally world. Good luck and It's no big thing... You will see that once you use this method... Trust it... It works.
