Good morning! We were going to have my threenager granddaughter today but her dad stayed home. I even made sugar cookie dough so we could bake for fun! I hope he brings her over for a visit.

Started a new garden with garlic and potato-onions.

With garlic, I read, "plant the big cloves, eat the little cloves," so I've been doing that ever since I started growing garlic.

I thought the same thing might apply to potato onions, and this year, I got the biggest ones yet! I have saved the biggest of both to plant in a few weeks.

This is my first year with both. I bought my cloves and bulbs from an etsy shop. The garlic were enormous! I'm not sure how big potato onions are supposed to be. The seller was so kind - offering tips. I think it was you, Sally, who suggested "music" garlic - which is what I bought. Both of us being Michiganders, and all....

Good morning, porch peeps!

My DIL and I went to the cider mill, yesterday. I bought a bushel of apples. Half Macintosh and half Goldens. I will be making applesauce, freeze-dried diced apples and perhaps apple pie filling. I see a Pinterest journey in my future. But, today I need to can some beef stew.

My sugar maple is almost bare, now. ::sigh::

I love my garlic. Music to my tastebuds.

My potato onions this year are the biggest yet. They don't get as big regular bulbing onions can, but a lot of my regular onions are not very big. So, I'm hopeful that more of them will size up next year. The biggest potato onions are about 2.5-3" in diameter.

I got a lot of them that are golfball size this year. Last year, I got a lot of pingpong ball size. Improvement, improvement.
