Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

Quote: I am always trying to divide my foot Pinky toe on one side of a chair leg or wall corner and the rest on the other. I finally broke it because i looked down and it was pointing sideways.... Home alone single mom with a sleeping baby... I just stuck my foot in the bathroom sink and ran cold water on it... I split the nail too. Then dried it off and taped it to my other toe... Getting it cold helped immensely and doing it right after breaking it helped too because the pain hadnt set in just yet.

You are right it takes for ever for one to heal... I talked to a doc and he said thats all they would have done too.

Broken toes... Blue stepped on my foot (and I wasn't wearing proper shoes, mea culpa) and broke the toe next to the big toe (or what would be the index finger if toes were hands). All I could do was tape it to the neighboring toe and walk carefully for a bit. It healed fine, but every time the weather changes for the worse (gets colder) I'm informed by that toe.

I think I would get really queasy if I saw anything sideways... Brave folks.

You should have seen it when I snapped my ACL falling off the mounting block steps back in 2001. My mare was just broke to ride and I had ridden her about three times.... I was soo excited I invited a good friend to come over and watch how good she was....

Getting on a 17 hand greenbroke horse was an adventure for sure. I had to climb the mounting block steps up to a fifty five gallon drum from there I could place my foot in the stirrup and swing on without pulling the saddle over. I was pretty big person back then...

I lifted one foot and the barrel wabbled I tried to get the barrel to stop by putting my foot down harder in the opposite directrion.... and the base of the barrel collapsed.... I tried to break my fall but it was too far up.... First rule of falling with horses is roll because you arent going to stop it.

I felt the snap.... and I was under my horse screaming every curse word I knew. Mom was screaming at me to stop screaming or I would scare the horse.... Katee just looked down and said... "What cha doing down there Ma?" she planted her feet as I bounced off em. Gotto love that draft horse mentality.

I was too heavy for anyone to lift me up on one foot.... so I crawled to the car and cawled in and got myself up on to the passenger seat.

Yep snapped acl... Think of the toe sideways... then imagine your leg from the knee down sideways. there are a couple of ligiments in you knee that keep your leg straight ... snap one and your leg goes left snap the other and your leg goes right....

I would much rather have broken a bone.

I broke both bones in my right Wrist in the sixth grade. You feel them snap too--and then they have to reduce it. I managed it without any pain killers. The Dr. said I had a high tolerance for pain. I do not want to break any bones or snap any ligaments or tendons... I did tear the ligament in my ankle once too and I have a broken bone in my foot. The ankle was painful but I do not remember breaking the bone in my foot. Of course I have arthritis in that foot now.

The most pain ever was when I crushed my sciatic nerve--three days of terrible pain and then no pain--and then paralysis from my knee to my big toe. It has been 8 years and I can almost feel my big toe now.

I broke my arm snowboarding, it was weird, I only noticed it because when I tried to get up, my right arm didn't carry any weight. Took almost half an hour before it started to hurt. I went through three hospitals with that one, the first one said I was last in line all the time because I didn't live in the area and I wasn't critical, they just gave me some ibuprofen there. So then I went to our own hospital, about an hour away from where I broke the arm, and after six hours they had finally x-rayed me and a doctor had taken a look. He didn't want to do anything about it though, because he saw some possible shattering in the image, and I was only 18 at the time so they sent me to the kids hospital for a proper orthopedic doctor to take a look at it. I think it was about 12 hours before I finally had it in a cast. And two weeks later at a check up it wasn't properly aligned, so into surgery I went and got to wear the cast for another 5 weeks after that. It's crazy how much muscle you can lose in 7 weeks, it took ages to get my strength back in that arm.

My Wife took a tumble off of her motorcycle last August. She had surgery and her radius was put back together with a plate and pins. They missed a torn ligament in her wrist at the Ulna for 6 weeks and then did a rush surgery on it. She was in a cast for 7 weeks after that. From August 16th to just before thanks giving, no movement at the wrist joint. You can still see a difference in the size of the arm. She is just starting to move the wrist again so It will take months to get strength back.
