I like tea and chickens too
Ice tea warm weather & hot tea winter nites & morns.
Chicken biscuits cold weather & Chicken and waffles with my own honey,...oh heck, anytime!
Yum! =)
for what its worth I water with recycled rubber tubs and a float valve. all open air... I have never fed medicated anything nor have I had to treat a flock for anything but mites....
Tubs are easy to clean... I flip them over right in the coop (dirt floors) and give them a swipe with a toilet brush (designated only for tub cleaning) and dump them again then set them to refill. i cleaned once a week.
tub
float valve
each pen has their own so there is no cross contamination...
Both the tub and the valve are intensely rugged and can handle hard freezes... Nice part about the tub is even if it freezes hard the slope on the sides allows you to dump out the ice. yep they walk in em Yep they poo in them yep they kick dirt in them and perch on the sides... Though I learned to buy a small resin table and set it over the top... kept the perching and pooing part down...

I tried going non-medicated last year. I lost over half of my flock in chick losses.
This is Lulu, He has wanted to be the boss since he got here he is 4 weeks old today and this pic was taken like 2 min ago. He is chesty, picky, and all around Boyish.
He bounces all over and riles up all he is housed with. With all the problems I have had with my Silkie chicks getting hurt my blue bantam cochin baby is in with the standard cochins to brood. He is ALL BOY!
I will still wait and see once he gets older what kind of a Rooster he will be the flock handler or the trouble maker. The roo that takes care of the flocks needs first is always welcome here
Toilet brush for the coop![]()
Yeah, he's totally a boy!!! I agree that the roo that takes care of the flock is always welcome! =)
