Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

Hmmmm, let's see, already -18, windchill warnings till noon tomorrow, HOWEVER, no frozen pipes, power is still on, no ice outside (sorry Alaskan and everyone in Maine), oil heater is keeping the coop nice and warm without fire risk, brand new furnace is keeping the house toasty, big pot of venison stew on the stove and a fresh pot of coffee working. Hubby and the pup catching a snooze on the couch.
Really now, how more blessed could a person get??? :love

Really hoping all of you are staying safe and warm too! :hugs

It did not get as low as predicted. I am glad. Frozen is frozen, but citrus can handle below 32 as long as it is not sustained. Nothing got to harden up with cool temps though. We shall see.

My antique dog went out at 4:30 this morning and the thermometer said it was only 30.Even though the weather site for this area says it is 28 out. I do not believe them.

Usually the dogs all meander about and take their sweet time while all I want is to return to bed. They were quick about it this time.
They ran out and got to it, and ran back in.
I do not think they are snow dog material.
My dogs would die of a massive pee explosion if it were -18.

How do you all keep your coffee hot? You have to be quick. and another thing I noticed, you get ice water from the tap! washing dishes requires a lot more soap. I can get the water hot eventually, but if it doesn't run while I wash, it gets cold again.
HOW DO YOU ALL SURVIVE!?!
My Swedish ancestors knew what they were doing bringing their genes south.

Actually, can't do that, floor so cold I would probably stick! Glad to hear your trees and fruit may have made it!

I think all my beautiful herbs I worked so hard to establish this far north are probably toast.. If so, I just may let the chickens have the herb garden. They can't wait for me to open the gate for them in the spring anyway.

My poor little pup has learned to run out, find her spot, and go REALLY fast!

I still wind up carrying her sometimes when her toes freeze. Don't have to worry about thqt with the chickens, they haven't stuck their beaks out in days! They have been in full lock down. Even the heater is stuggling now to keep the coop around 32o. HOWEVER, we are finally looking at getting a break tomorrow when it will actually get above zero!

Have to roadtrip to my doc for tests today. Very long cold ride both ways for sure. Really not looking forward to that!

I just don't understand how y'all make it when it's cold for so long! You're some tough people! I'm a wimp! It's 14 at 10:30 in the morning with 25mph winds here in southeast Virginia. The flock seems to be fine but I'm cold in this old house. Think I'll put my hat back on!
