Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

Quick question to all those who brave the negative temps...So I got my silkies..6 of them tonight.(My old neighbor threw in 2 more! :weee They are 2 weeks old. Tonight I had to wrap the brooder (tub/tote) in that reflective bubble wrap just to get to 85-90 under the lamp. It's in an unheated "sunroom". Tonight it's 48 right now in there, outside current temp is 41°, and outside will drop down to 32 I think the forcast said. Tomorrow night we are get a nasty cold snap with high winds. The low over night will be 3°. Any suggestions on how to keep it warm? :idunno

Just checked on chicks. All is well. 86° under lamp and chicks are huddled off to the side of it a bit. I think if aadd a layer of the reflective bubble wrap on the inside for the colder temps tonight it will probably be good.:fl

A dark good morning to ya. Well, the dogs will love going to the nursery an hour early anyway, Before all of the smells evaporate with the dew.
My Husband's boss moved start time back an hour, so he still is on DST in the real world, and ST on work world.
The worst of both worlds.
Poor guy.
He deserves a cake.

Good Morning Y'all! Have a wonderful day!

glad to hear she's getting better.  wonder if she wasn't kicked or maybe bumped by a car?

That's very possible. She also loves to climb, and has gotten stuck before. I think it also possible she may have fallen or gotten her foot stuck and twisted in a tree.

Bless her, yesterday she was apparently sick of being cooped up, and forced her way out. She spent the afternoon outside with us. I tried to put her back last night, but she wouldn't have it. She started trying to climb the door, so I let her back out. She barely limps now, amazingly, but she can't jump at all. She tries, but her leg isn't ready yet.

So yesterday was the chicks' first day out in the sun. It was very warm here, so I put them in a mini cage to play. They loved it! The flock that was out free ranging for the day came to check out the chicks.

And we built our chicken tractor yesterday! We still have to add some chicken wire to the outside. This will be for any roos that come from the chicks. (Meat birds)
