Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

I survived the dentist with no cavities and a slap on the wrist to remind me to floss

My coffee addiction began in Alaska, Anchorage to be exact. It was in the early 90's when designer coffee was all the rage and there were so many different folks making their own different labels. Well, winters in Anchorage get a bit cold and it all began with a corner drive through coffee stand and a hot Mocha. Hot chocolate with a jolt.

Glad to hear you survived!!!
My coffee drinking began at age 18; DH encouraged me to have a Cafe' Mocha at Starbuck's when he went for a Latte'.

Chocolate in your coffee. Heavenly.
Oh, and an esspresso, with a sidecar of Ghirardelli chocolate creme de menthe.

I just put one of those (Ghirardelli chocolate mint square) in my second cup this morning (or afternoon...not sure exactly what time it was, but...)

I sure enjoyed it!!!

Is it wrong to totally want a ex large cup of coffee with a delicious chocolate candy now!?!?!?!?! I love this thread always make me love my coffee even more

Nope, not wrong in the least! We're all about the enabling here!!!

Dark Chocolate and caramel with sea salt.

The water I use is unfiltered, and I do not use water softner machine either. Our water, It is a spring which comes bubbling up though the ground on its own. The run off is channeled away to the south creek. We have 33 acres and property is completly bordered by creeks.

Since the water we use is ages old coming up through the rocks, I see no reason to filter nor salt machine. I do However when making coffee, use the tiniest small pinch of french grey sea salt I bought over there and shipped home.

Just a pinch to take away any bitterness. Salt works well when preparing foods also but just a pinch in a pot. Over the years on my trips there I picked up little things to make a good cup a great cup. And let me tell you, in France & Italy they take their coffee very seriously.

When younger I needed it the next morning after a night out going from one bite and a drink to the next bite and a drink. I litterally did not drink the water except in CH.

I had one of those in my coffee.....Sunday? No, Tuesday. Yum!!!
Oh, IMO, spring water is the best and should never be filtered!!! (well, maybe not never, but only in very specific circumstances). I grew up drinking spring water and I hate city water and filtered water, and distilled... you get the picture. I miss spring water; the water at my house tasted just like Zephyr Hills water.

Six weeks old:

So glad you're here!!!
Super cute chicks.
I'll post pics of my 3-week-old chicks trying to get rid of the string on my shoe for me the other day. =)

No motivation.......too rainy and cloudy.....

I need a picture of a smilie crawling across the desert and reaching for a giant coffee cup.

I'd like to see that!!!

If they made motivational coffee instead of motivational speakers, I would buy some.
My puppy jumped onto my lap and stuck her paw into my coffee cup.

...I drank it anyway.
hmm.png
Bwahahahahaha!!! Me too!
I've done worse...

I have a special needs dog who is blind and he loves coffee. My Jack Russell is an odd ball she only like water and milk LOL Spot gets some when I am finished before I wash the cup.

We used to have a dog that my DH would "spill" some of his coffee onto the front walk for him to drink. The dog would nudge DH's coffee cup to remind him to give him some.

Checking in. Nice pics all!

Welcome to the new ones!

Happy belated Birthday to Hagar's chicken partner!!!

And glad to see you could do an " end around" the posting problems @ocap2nd ! Would hate to lose you to the cyber space "war".

I'm at my DD helping her with some room rearranging and organizing. Almost 2 hours from home, between Ann Arbor and Detroit. And my brakes go out. Luckily I didn't have an accident though. Supposed to have a meeting tomorrow at work. But vehicle won't be done until Thursday. I got coverage for work but now if I could only get coverage for the $1600+ repair bill.
hit.gif

Hmmmm.....Maybe I shouldn't 'Brake for Chickens'. I think I'll just 'Break for Chickens' from now on.
wink.png

And on the chicken run front, the run is mostly done. I got a few temporary fixes to finish it to come up here but plan on the permanent job when I get back. Bad news...my girls aren't happy being locked up. Except for the silkies who have gone broody!
hmm.png
I gave them extra food and water to last through tonight but DSO will have to feed and water tonight and tomorrow night. Good thing he likes me because he really isn't into my chickens.
big_smile.png

I set up a horizontal nipple waterer for the girls but I have only seen 1 white rock use it. Out of 24.
he.gif

so I have 4 other waterers out for them.

My back is better. I tried 4 advil but they didn't touch it. So I tried aleve. 2 took the edge off but 4 worked better. And since I used a knee brace for my knee and that helped before I tried a "back brace" of sorts. Actually a " tummy control foundation garment" you know the thing I'm talking about. ( They used to be called girdles
lau.gif
) Actually at one point I was rolling on the floor just not laughing too much.
roll.png
Anyway a couple of days of 3 or 4 aleve 3x a day and my "back brace" and I'm almost as good as new!

My DD has "Choc full of Nuts" coffee. I had never tried it before. It's not bad. Not bitter and pleasantly flavorful. I am pleasantly surprised.

Have a wonderful evening all and great rest of the week!

Hi, Hon!!!
Broody silkie!!!

I love my morning cups! I drink with 1/2 & 1/2 with sugar. I like a bold coffee, Sumatra Starbucks in my keurig. Love posts about coffee from the chicken chick!
th

I drink my coffee with a lot of sugar and a little 1/2 & 1/2.
I like the bold coffees too. We use Sumatra and also French, Espresso, Italian, all the dark roasts from Starbuck's. Plus, DH likes their House Blend (I couldn't care less about it). We also like 8 o'clock Columbian, Pete's House Blend, Dunkin Donuts original, and probably several others I'll remember as soon as I hit "submit".
Did I mention I had coffee today???

I'm passing this along to DH!!!

Oh gee, I am so glad I buy unfavored beans and grind. I do not buy Millstone. I know for an absolute FACT the reason why it is flavoured with cheap oils is because it comes from inferior coffee beans.
I read a book about coffee. The United States of America went in to Vietnam to reforrest. They supplied Coffee plants and man power to plant the Coffee plants. The coffee plants were not Arabica. This is low jungle and not high mountains. There is more than one type of coffee plant. Some one buys up the liw grade coffee. What to do with low grade coffee to make it palitable? Use cheap flavorings.

All I can say is

And thanks for sharing!!!

As in what watt light bulb? Or.....? I don't deal with wattage...am I supposed to?

- I see water is slightly frozen over, I bring out water more often

- I see water is frozen solid, I out in the stock tank deicer

- I see the water is frozen solid with the deicer in the middle, I un-trip the fuse to get it back on or boil water on the stove

I am very technical, can you tell? All other pipe freezing stuff is dealt with the same way. Just like my waterer holds closer to one hkwe instead of your little waterer holding one seit!
big_smile.png

I'm about as technical as you. And I like your measuring system!!!

I used to mainline brewed coffee all day long. At work I would probably drink five cups... First percolated then I discovered drip brewing. Then i discovered Coffee Toddy making (btw if you can do it its probably the best of all). Broke my toddy brewer then Espresso got popular and I was hooked.

I have my four shots in a sixteen ounce cup... no bigger no smaller... Then I use three sweet and lows... I cant taste sugar in coffee at all. Then top the whole thing to the brim with half and half. It comes out luke warm and very satisfying and it takes me a good three to four hours to drink.
