Dean is, my one and only, the only grand son, and the only great grand son in this family. There are four generations of us here.... As much as I complain about the "grandmas" I love them dearly.... just with all family some are more work than others....

The kitchen is a mess right now.... But.... Burrrrpppp from San Diego..... I made Blackend Catfish for grandma.... Shrimp Scampi for Mom and a big ole pot of steamed Snow crab leggs for Dean and I.

and a berry tart instead of cake.... Vons had it in the bakery display ....

Oh for the veggies.... I did steamed in bag fresh green beans... then small new potatoes steamed in the micro wave till they were cooked then each potato got smashed till it was about a half inch thick.... in a frying pan.... Then drizzled with Good olive oil sprinkled with dill and a squirt or two of diced Garlic in a squeeze bottle.... Crisp up the bottoms then salt and pepper a little then flipped over to crisp the tops a little....

Oh and a Tomato and lettuce salad....

Grandma raved over the Catfish.... Please someone remind me the next time I do blackened catfish to wear the gas mask.... Something in those Herbs sent us all in a fit of coughing.... But it was worth it got a big thumbs up from Grandma....

I have to take a nap now....

We took our preteen kids to see Three Dog Night a couple years ago. They were great.

We are headed to see the Little River Band tonight. Minus kids this time.

I like them too.
And Credence Clearwater Revival, and Hall & Oats, and a bunch of other bands...Chicago, the Beach Boys (and Jan & Dean), a bunch of them.

My son now pronounces aluminum like the Europeans do: Al-U-men-e-um

We have a lot of things wrong.

I would love to go metric.
Really.
They teased us with it in fifth grade. "We will all go metric soon!"
"yes! Decimals are so much easier to manipulate than fractions!" all of us kids were glad to toss the common denominators... But no.
We had Ten fingers. How easy is that? It is sane, rational, logical...
It was not to be.
It was mean teasing us like that. I was hopeful all the way into high school. Where one WOULD assume we would use METRIC. All hopes dashed.

I use metric at home anyway.


I always spelled meter 'metre' , and color 'colour'... and the teachers always marked it wrong.
I think I must have reincarnated on the wrong Continent.

They teased us too!!
I'm better with fractions than I am decimals.
