Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

My use of the word was a bit faulty. By ecologic, I actually meant ecologically friendly/beneficial, in Finnish and Swedish the word is often used as an adjective.

But a good example is crop growing. I remember reading some studies that say that an organic field of grain produces more greenhouse emissions than one grown with the help of modern fertilizer and pesticides. Of course, the use of those does have it's effect as well.

Personally I try to stick to locally grown and non-GMO stuff, I don't go for organic as much. Although, when it comes to animal products, the organic stuff usually means that the animals have been treated more humanely, so with those, I try to buy organic whenever it's possible. I'd like a "happy animal" standard though, I don't really care if the feed the animal has been fed was certified organic. It's the treatment of them I'm more concerned with. Chickens are a good example, organic egg layers have a 6 birds per square meter restriction, while barn raised birds have a 9 birds per square meter restriction. It's quite a difference.

I know. Organic grows less per square whatever measurement you use. and it takes the same energy to plant and harvest. But the damage the chemicals do is pretty bad too. Catch 22.
Too bad there isn't a way too do both.
It is interesting to me (after caring for the flock in 27F weather with strong wind) that I spend a lot more time trying to be comfortable with each passing year. When I was much younger the weather made no difference to me !!!!

Interesting "stupid virus" article:

That's going to be my excuse from now on.

Cherries!

I love cherries! Door County cherries are the best! Folks migrate from all over to Door County in late summer.
Ok, we love the big dark cherries from Washington too

And mushrooms? just about everybody goes mushroom hunting up here. Can't do a proper deer camp venison stew without them.

Somebody asked for a weather report;
20o F and dropping, fast. 20+ mph winds and gusting. Still snowing heavy. No clue how much since it started yesterday morning, but ALOT. Hard to measure since the drifts keep moving. Should stop by dark then the cold air moves in. Highs are supposed to be in the single digits (F) by Thursday, not going to discuss the lows.
Reminds me, I better have Pa check the level in the propane tank.

I just love Door County period! It's ALL good!

Don't know how Mitch would feel about that.

Ok, I resign.

I think about the only thing I don't like to eat is peas! Everything else I like. I grew up eating what ever we killed and my parents who grew up during WW2 didn't waste anything. My dad and I had a favorite bed time snack .... Pickled pigs feet with a glass of butter milk.

I LOVE pickled pigs feet.... Butter milk in my family has salt and pepper sprinkled on top for every sip....

I would like to learn how to make Pickled pigs feet one day... There is a grocery store I got to called Food For Less. there is a large client base that is Mexican so they offere stuff youd never see in a regular grocery store around here.... Used to but not any more.

But i have seen pigs feet, cow feet, and yes even chicken feet... As well as brains Thymus kidney and Cow stommach (all nice and clean)

Mom used to make Tripe by boiling it all day till it was tender then letting it cool and cutting it into strips then breading it and frying it in corn meal.... Oh Yumm.. five pounds of Tripe after that process was GONE by the end of the day.

Havent tried Chiterlings yet but I have tried the Mexican version.... OMG.... very very good. Another one that takes all day boiling then frying....

You eat these with coffee??

sure dont you??? LOL. I have four shots of espresso in the morning for breakfast... so not really...

I get my coffee at about ten am .... four shots in a sixteen ounce cup then three sweet N Lows then fill it up to the top with half and half. I sip on it all day. Sometimes like today I wind up taking my last sip after dinner.

I dont make coffee any more after discovering espresso. Because I was drinking two to three pots a day... So now I just have it the way I want it just once.... Keeps the headaches away... and keeps me from feeling like someone kicked me in the gut...

So in the mornings thats when i talk coffee.... mostly...
