Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

You sound just like me. Nothing says country style like a robe & rubber boats. After 5 years of country living and almost 25 years of marriage to this country girl, my husband actually goes out in his PJs.

Fire ants are awful.
Alaskan, I'm checking out your blog. I love your writing already. When I get in one of my day dreaming moods, I imagine living in Alaska or the old west. You can complain to me about the cold & snow. I can't wait to hear all about it.
LOL Yeah, I like the robe and rubber boots thing. My DH isn't ever going to go out in his PJs. hehehe Come to think of it, I don't think he even comes out of the bedroom in his PJs. Hmmm.

Absolutely! I've lived in Fla all my life; I can confirm they are awfuler than anything ever!

I live near a USDA experiment station and they experimented with some kind of flies that lay egge in the fire ants heads and kill them and we have not had any firemants for several, years. That is great but some kind of small ants have taken over and they are really aggravating.

A neighbor of mine said that the land across the street from where we live used to be planted in peach trees a long time ago. They used to spray it w/ something to kill the Spanish Moss, so for years there was no moss on any of the trees here either. I missed those years.

not just the stars but the milkyway too. I dreamt about the place before I bought it... One of the few places you can see the Leonid meteor shower in The county. It happens In November usually around the time they are falling the cloud cover is interfering.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonids

I have a spot where I want to build a deck in the rocks to the west of my house about fifty feet away. Its a natural amphitheater and a good place to keep a Telescope locker. Probably about the size of a good sized living room.

DH and I got to show the kids a meteor shower a couple of months ago. It wasn't the Leonid. The kids really liked it. I had only seen about 3 "falling stars" in my life before that; after that night, I had seen over a dozen.

I want an outdoor living room too. Oh, wait, too many bugs and way too humid for that here. Oh, well. Maybe one day. *sighs*

Yes, please!!!!!

At this point coffee is the only cheerful thing in the days. We HAVE to wear boots as even the carport is flooding! During severe cold at least I could walk the 400' of shoveled paths in crocks but am literally up to ankles and getting pulled down ,in some areas, now(mud and previous vole tunnels!) so the coffee is a neccessity(in my mind!!) Its a workout and haven't spilled animal food(yet!!!)No rain for next 2 days so getting the chix mucked hopefully can happen.

<<<beggin ma nature for a week of dry PLEASE.

Welcome to the thread and I hope you all get a good dry out! =)

Hi all!

We use those cheap sleds winter and spring for stuff like moving hay bales etc. Bought myself a nice garden wagon a few years ago and it spends more time in the shed than actually in use. The girls like it when I pull it out for the summer. They love to take it over and take naps under it.
We use cheap pools to help keep the dogs (and sometimes children) cool. Then (when they get leaks) we use them to cover stuff.

I had spring last week....... Truly, we did.... We had break-up, the driveway sucked in my tire, the rhubarb was sprouting....

And now we have winter, snow and temps around zero

Awww, sorry to hear about it, @Alaskan !

Friday!

I have a friend who works for a poultry producer as an Accountant. She has a back yard flock, does breeding, sells eggs etc. They told her this week that she has to get rid of all her personal poultry by Sunday.

AI has entered the state and they are uping their biosecurity measures. I have spent the week trying to find folks in state who can buy/take her birds.

She bringing me a delivery tomorrow. Possibly a few for me and some others for a co-worker. I hadn't planned on adding to the flock, but I know her birds are clean and I want to help her find good homes. She has a wonderful variety of heratige breeds.

Rain all day today.

So happy for you!!! Three, Two, One, DONE!!!! =)

We do the same thing. Except the bees are attracted to the Blue of the pool. They have water in their garden, but they like the puppy's pool better. She just sits there watching them come in, line up, fill up with water... and fly off.
It is rather entertaining.

I suppose we will have to get her a different color. My other option is pink,

but a cool puppy is more important.

You're lucky. Our first dog used to do air traffic control; dragonflies, buzzards, butterflies

And that's to say nothing about the squirrels and cardinals.

Yeah, we have two blue ones and a pink one. They're covering the mower right now. lol Some of them have been destroyed (children and dogs, ugh).
