Please allow me this. I share with you here because i know how caring and intelligent you are here and will understand.
This is no political statement, just meant to show my support and concern.
I worry this morning for the safety of my son-in-law (aka #2 son). He serves in blue in the Rockford Ill area. He has
already been told to not wear his uniform on his way but wait until he is at work. He could not share more but just be aware
the whole story is not (cannot) be told right now. (the dead shooter was not associated with the "real" shooters)
Please pray for the families of the fallen officers, those wounded, and for us all.

(This was also not actually connected and/or directly related to the horrible shooting in
Minnesota or what happened in Baton Rouge, they just fed the fire)

@casportpony has links to necropsy by state. Please please help my very knowledgeable flockmaster friends.
I am in shock and heartbroken. Please help me figure out what stupid &^%$# thing I did!!! All three of my little survivor chicks are dead. They were fine this morning, they've been fine. healthy, bouncing off the sides of the brooder fine. Every time I checked on them today they were fine.Checked on them this afternoon because we had a bit of a thunderstorm and it got dark so I turned the light on in their room, they were fine. Only thing out of the ordinary today was they were given just a little scrambled egg. Some of the same scrambled egg literally everybody else, including me, got for lunch. I had an abundance of older eggs so I scrambled them up with nothing but a spritz of olive oil to keep them from sticking. Not even salt. They have had scrambled egg before but I usually use coconut oil, but it was still just a spritz. Otherwise they had clean water, their normal chickstarter, everything the same. I was inside all day only going out to gather eggs before dark. They were in a room with the door open just a few feet down the hall from my chair in the livingroom. Never a sound out of the ordinary. I went in to turn their light off and make sure they were alright and they all were dead!!! Stretched out almost exactly the same position a few inches apart, no sign of convulsion, nothing. They were stiff and getting cold. They even look like they possibly died within minutes of each other. I checked them gently over one at a time. No sign of body fluid loss, no pasty butt (they got ground organic rolled oats to prevent that), no impacted crop, eyes closed. They looked so peaceful at first I had thought they were already asleep lying in the silly position chicks will often sleep in. They just turned four weeks old on Sunday and were feathering out nicely but because of the crazy weather they hadn't even had their first outing yet.
I'm just at a complete loss. I'm completely baffled. I checked the olive oil, it's old but still good. I checked their food, no sign of mold etc. The Nutrena chick starter is a fresh bag, just opened it on Saturday and no possible way for it to get wet where it's stored. The older two chicks out in the grow out pen have been eating the same feed and are fine (I hope). There was no sign of cocci, no sign of worms, no bloody poo, nothing. I am so careful when there are chicks in the house, I never use any kind of a teflon pan, only cast iron and stoneware. I had made supper but the big stand fan was in the hall blowing toward the kitchen, away from the chicks. There was no chance of electrocution. The Brinsea had been unplugged and no other power anywhere near them.
I've wracked my brain,![]()
PLEASE!!! anyone have any idea what I could have done wrong for three healthy growing chicks to all drop dead at the same time????![]()
eta; I have not been near anyone else's birds since the new chicks arrived and my girls all look totally normal and healthy. I am a biosecurity fanatic.
