Six months old! I'm gonna eat my silkies!

I had some dq roos that no one wanted so a friend of mine baked them. They had a funky flavor but was alright.

That's the only thing saving their fluffy butts at this point.

No crowing yet...
I bet you have girls...
Be patient, Grasshopper..

Maybe they have a secret nest somewheres? They're laying hundreds of eggs..for when they go broody. Muhahahahha

They say female silkies have more healing properties than males... not that I really believe they are any different than white or yellow skin chickens.

As for your description...

Might wait till 8 months or spring for any eggs...

Roosters should have crowed by now... but not all will...

I almost never see the silkie roos doing their thing....

And the regular chickens ignore the silkies....

That helps huh?

Who told ya silkies laid eggs?

If it were not for my silkie roo i would not have any silkie crosses cause silkie hen is broody or has chicks 24/7 and i got 5 of them little hens.

Yea, I must have a wild one then, because I've seen him many times and he's only been mating for a few weeks. Guess he is trying to get reallly good at it!

One of my silkies ran into one of my brahma hens (literally). Poor brahma is still traumatized from the experience. May have to get the poor girl therapy.

Practice makes perfect!

You don't want to eat them - after you pluck there's nothing left but scrawny little black bodies. I was told even their bones are black. Say it isn't so. That's as unappetitizing as when I put blue food coloring in mashed potatoes. It seemed like a cool idea at the time - none of us would eat it.
