Slow drivers........

I was the third car back from "that guy" once.. He sat and sat and sat and missed several perfect openings in oncoming traffic. The guy behind him was getting really angry, though...revving his engine, beeping the horn, etc..

Well, at one point the guy up front -- hesitant henry, we'll call him -- did the thing where you almost go, then chicken out...but the guy behind him didn't chicken out. He thought the guy up front had gotten out of the way, so with head turned completely around looking at oncoming traffic, he punched it down for about 15' and crammed directly into hesitant henry's hiney.

I kinda thought they both got what they had coming...until I realized I was now caught behind an accident.

Here's my favorite bad driving trick, though..

Say you're cruising down a road that's 5 lanes in total...two going one way, two going the other, and a shared turn lane in the center.. You're in the left lane.. All of a sudden the guy in front of you begins to brake, taking fast lane traffic from 55+mph to about 25mph.. What's this guys' problem...people start braking hard behind you, some shooting over into the right lane to pass. Why is this guy....oh, wait, there he goes...now that he's down to about 25mph, he signals and moves over into the turn lane..

THAT'S WHY THE TURN LANE IS THERE, MORON! DON'T BRAKE IN THE FAST LANE IF THERE'S A TURN LANE!!!!!!!!!

I know you aren't going to speed up for me, but I'm hoping to irritate you or make you nervous. Flame away...

Road rage much? Irritating someone or making them nervous just makes them go slower you know?

How incredibly futile and juvenile to expect that you can impose your will on other drivers!

It's called aggressive driving and it yields nothing but dangerous situations in which people get injured. Nice.

How's that for flammage?

I'm with you...then again, I also visit traffic school about once a year. I drive 32mi one-way to work everyday, so I consider speeding tickets to be like the expense of work clothes...just a cost of doing business.

Last time I went to traffic school, I walked over to the instructor and said "I hope I'm in the right place. Is this the Excellence in Driving awards ceremony?"

He just went "Yep." Never even looked up..

I hope most of us look at how elderly and new drivers different than the rest.

Why do the slow drivers feel it's their American duty to drive in the left hand lane (on interstate roads) and slow down the traffic?

If you are in NO HURRY on a 2 lane road and see a pile of traffice behind you, why wouldn't you just pull over and let them go???? If you are doing the speed limit, that's a whole different subject.

What started my rant were posters on another site BRAGGING about not only going slower than speed limit but doing their best to aggravate the people that wanted to go faster. To the point of stopping and blocking the other cars in.

What makes this stupid is that most of us have cell phones and some of us report them to police w/make, model and license plate number. I know I have. Had 2 ladies who would speed up in passing lanes, then slow down to 45 in non-passing lanes and LAUGH at me trying to get around. Meanwhile my daughter was in physical trouble at school and I couldn't get there.............think I didn't report them to state troopers. If I wasn't worried about my daughter, I'd have followed them and given them a speech.

I know somebody who actually got a ticket for going TOO SLOW!!!!! GOOD!! I'm not a crazy driver, but I'm not a slow poke either. People that go out for subday drives every day of the week drive me UP THE WALL! Someone said they should use the back roads and go as slow as they want - NO!! Pretty much all we use are back roads, PLEASE don't do that... It just makes passing you even harder!!

The only time I don't get frustrated is when I'm behind farm equipment. That I completely understand, because sometimes it's our tractor going down the road

And, no, I don't feel sorry for old people or new drivers. If you can't drive then stay off the road. When I get old and decrepit I have vowed that I will not do that to other people because it gets me so riled up. If that means not driving, then so be it. It just gives me incentive to keep my self as healthy for as long as possible

I was driving through our tiny little town, and I'm totally on my side of the road in our F350. An old lady was driving the opposite direction towards me. She decided she wanted to live in England and started driving in MY lane still coming towards me (maybe she was playing chicken, I don't know)! I was blasting the horn and waving my hands (because I had at that point fully stopped the truck), and just as she was about to hit me head on in my lane, she decided to start living in North America again (THANK GOD!!). I just sat there a minute COMPLETELY dumbfounded, as well as the lady in the car waiting to turn on the road, who watched this whole scenario play out. That old lady SHOULD NOT have a license. Thankfully my grandparents are smart about driving, and I don't have to say that kind of stuff about them (which I would if it was true - it's for their safety as well as everybody elses!).

WHEW! I feel better

Those people are childish and immature. I didn't know that people did this on purpose. Actually if that happened to me, it would frighten me into calling the police. I would assume that the person was some nutcase who wanted to rob me or hurt someone.

i havent read all the replys, but my pet peeve on slow drivers are those in Prius's. i used to drive an SUV, and these you know whats would Cut me off to get in front and then Slow WAY down. Now i wouldnt be fussing Except that when i drive my little saturn, they stay in the right lane. and Yes they could be different ppl, ( i know one in particular is the same one everytime(Small town)) But its kinda funny when its always the SAME car!! I HATE those left lane regulators! grrr!

Very much so (in regards to the road rage), but only to those who decide to go below the speed limit. I like to think those that are going slow either purposefully or just cuz they can't drive, need my will imposed on them. I also like to think that since I am driving aggressively I'm paying more attention. Those that drive slow or are confused, usually are not paying attention to what they are doing. For example: talking on their phone, texting, feeding their kids, trying to find an address. All of these things need to be done, NOT while you're driving. Pull over and do the rest of us a favor. Road rage and aggressive behavior usually ends bad when someone gets out of the car to confront you. I stay in my vehicle...I have places to go you know

Also, if you have a parent, grandparent, aunt, etc that should not be driving due to their age or other physical/mental limitations, please do the rest of us a favor and get them off the road. My mother-in-law was such one of these individuals and while she does feel as though she has lost the sense of freedom that she craves, she ultimately realizes that the safety of those on the road are more important than her sense of freedom.

Going below the speed limit isn't illegal. Tailgating won't make anyone go faster. But, people shouldn't block the road. Here in Texas, people on the backroads are very good about pulling over to let faster traffic go by. I love it when I later see the passing people pulled over for speeding.

I hate people who sit in the passing lane on a freeway going 5 mph under the speed limit; but I understand why people might go slower than the speed limit on an unfamiliar, winding 2-lane road. Just because you drive that road every day doesn't mean everyone else does.

As a crossing guard at my kids school, my current pet peeve is people who don't understand that the pretty flashing light means you go 20mph through the entire school zone, not just while you are waiting to pick up your own kid.

I hate slow drivers, but most of all I hate the puller outers that then go super slow. Especially when they wait till you get right up on them to pull out, the other day I had a lady do that she did the hesitation twice then pulled right put in front of me..
