I don't know what to day...the conditions that you describe sound oppressive. I have two commercial air purifiers at home and they cost close to seventeen hundred dollars and replacement filters are approximately one thousand dollars. Would sprinklers help or is there a ban on water usage? I hope that things turn around for you and your chickens quickly!

it really just makes you feel yucky.....you can't really breathe, your eyes are irritated, you feel like you have the yuckiest film all over your skin, then on top of all of that it's about 108 degrees.

it's just depressing.

Well we can see our coop today which is a vast improvement over yesterday.... It was 108 and the smoke was so thick you only had about 100 ft visability. It wasn't until later in the day I learned a downed power line had torched a pasture very near us. I got a huge raise at work and promptly went our and spent twice the amount of my raise on an air condeitioner and two fans. We had been opening the house up at night and closing it in the morning to try and stay cool. But at 110 there is no cool and inhaling the smoke all night is making us all SICK! I have missed 4 days at work because of a respiratory infection from all this.

My poor girls. I hate watching them from the window just panting and hating it. But I am actually INCREASING my number of eggs I am getting. I must have some new layers. But my old hens are keeping up!

Please everyone! Pray for RAIN or at the very least fire containment. We cant even hope for a strong wind to blow the smoke out cuz that would make the fires worse. They are predicting smokey air for 2-3 more weeks. UGH!!

The fire near here has burned over 90,000 acres now. More homes are being threatened. Terrain is too rough to even be able to fight the fire. Two fires are about to merge together. I am near the coast so our temps are pretty much high 60's, low 70's mostly. Had over 100* the other week though. No A/C around here as it rarely gets that hot. Its a mixture of fog and smoke, but not real bad here. Tomorrow the winds are suppose to shift again and we will get more smoke than we've been having. Cars etc are covered in ash daily. Here's the moon on the 8th.
