i know how disapointing it is when you really want somthing and cant get it. i have wanted a Bull Terrier ever since i was a little kid but if you think basset hounds are exspensive you should try looking at BT! the cheapest ive ever found a puppy was for 1,000 dollars. not to mention NO ONE closer then 2,000 miles! when i was 21 i lucked out a BT breeder moved in littelry 3 houses down from my bf! but that didnt mean i was going to get a free puppy but they did however lower the price to 500 dollars for me but at that time i was only babysitting makeing one dollar and hour (yup and that was thru a state program called todays child!) so i went to work saving half of every paycheck towards the puppy which was only about 50 dollars every two weeks plus i needed the money for shots and food when i brought it home and other puppy supplies. well after a few months i had worked and worked and had saved all the money i needed and got my puppy. it felt like it took forever but i did!

i know it might seem like an impossable feat but even if you take 20 bucks from every pay check and tuck away before you know it youll have enough money to buy a good puppy and have your pick of the litter!

3. Someone said something about who would get the dog if me and my boyfriend split up. We're living together on over 100 acres with plenty of room. The dog is going to be his as I already have three dogs of my own. We're planning on getting married, we just haven't set anything in concrete yet.

4. She is not a "breeder" with breeder friends. She told me that she had the female since she was a puppy and that someone just gave them the male and he hadn't been neutered yet and that is where the puppies came from. Both dogs could be registered but they didn't care much about it so they didn't bother. They are not planning on having any more litters.

Anybody else have questions or anything else negative to say about me without knowing every single piece of information and making assumptions?

To those of you that gave very good advice and condolances about the situation, Thank you. We've been looking on petfinder but not finding too many. We'll look around at breeders and just see what the options are.

First I want to say I am sorry this happend to you. Then I want to say I had a simaler experience but from the other side of the fence. I had a litter of puppies (beagles) had found homes for all but one, I thought. So I advertised the one boy puppy, I had probably 30 plus replies. I sorted the first twenty, found three great people and chose the best one for him. I replied to probably half the others saying I was sorry but the puppy had already found a home. Then the people who had reserved one of the girls (the first pick even) called to say that due to medical problems they wouldn't be able to take the puppy anymore. So I emailed the rest of the people (this was three days after the original posting) I got some nice replies back, and one ticked lady who made sure she first told me how wonderful her home was and how much she wanted the puppy, then said BUT we found another puppy since you couldn't be bothered to email me back and tell me he was taken. She called me some names, said I was rude etc. I should of left it at that, but I didn't I replied back that I was sorry I hadn't gotten back to her, but had over 30 emails and that I just didn't have time to respond to them all. I also said I was glad she had found a puppy and that honestly if she couldn't wait 4 days I was glad she had not gotten our puppy as honestly if you can't wait four days, you are just buying a puppy on impulse and that is NOT the kind of home we wanted for our puppies.

I hope you find a beautiful dog. I do agree though you get what you pay for, usually. I would be very leary of a free purebred puppy. I don't really care if a dog is registered with the AKC, CKC, UKC etc. but if it is free there is usually a problem with it, or its not actually a purebred. I rarely even see mixed puppies for free around here.

i know from fact that sometimes it seems like alot of money! but if you take the time to go see an expectant mother and see the father if available and offer a downpayment on the sex you wish to purchase then it will be so worth it in the long run and you wont feel as if you have to come up with all the money at once. I also agree on the contracts between purchaser and seller(breeder) my mother was a breeder and always had a contract with staement s of if owner unable to keep dog returns to my mom a certificate of spay/neuter before papers were given to them and sometimes she would let a person have the dog if they paid for the spay/nueter before it leaves my mom so her vet would actually do it. that is with her older pups though not the 8 week old ones.

I am going to have to stick up for Continental Kennel Club here, at least from my perspective.....
We bred Jack Russells for years. None of my dogs were AKC registered, why? We bred the Shorties or Puddin Dogs as they are called.
AKC only will register dogs over 15" at the shoulder, mine are less than 10". They are all purebred, AKC just has their own standard as to what a Jack Should be. Mine descend from an old line from overseas and the True Parsons Russells.

Well, they might now, but back when I started in mine, they would not. Reason, dogs must be 15" at shoulder. The original imported dogs were submitted for registry to AKC, they refused them. But that is fine, my dogs are what the original Parsons Russells should be, short and hunters. AKC was not available overseas where they were imported from.
