I always fix hard boiled eggs. Do you mean that you don't cook it all the way through?

For hard boiled eggs, I just put a few in a bowl and chop them up, or hand one to my kids. They sprinkle salt, and eat.

Soft-boiled eggs are also referred to as 3-minute eggs. That's where the 3-minute egg timer came from:

You boil them for 3 minutes (at sea level; longer at high altitude), put them in the egg cugs, whack off the top of the egg, and eat the rest right out of the shell.

Wow, Coopa, quite a collection! My Grandparents used similar ones. They immigrated from England when they were around 30 -- wonder if they brought them with.

I remember getting a bit of eggshell in my mouth as a kid, eating from them.

Thanx! I focused just on collecting egg cups with "figural" chickens. My Grandparents were from Germany - seems like all we ever ate were soft-boiled eggs in cups!

I think, at least here in the States, poaching eggs has replaced soft-boiling them.

Soft boiled eggs are cooked in the shell so the yolk is still runny...crack off the top of egg and dip with your toast.
