Too bad so many dog owners are jerks.
I used to have a 75# pit bull male. Never had strays that stayed for long. He was very territorial, marking trees everywhere on our 15 acres. I had to put wire fence around all of our shrubs or they would have been ruined. He ran 4 siberian huskies off at once one evening. Came back with 4 colors fur in his mouth to boot .
After he died, the place became like wild kingdom. I never knew so many deer live here. We rarely see a stray up at the house, but some come thru the pasture down by the mailbox.
I have a 6 ft welded wire fence set in cement with a fence charger to boot. Never a loss yet. Am not doing any free-ranging until my current flock quits laying. I will not eat them, but will allow them to free range so I can raise the next batch of layers in our big run. They may get picked off one by one, but I will set traps too once that starts. It is a few years away tho since they are only 10 mo old now.
