So......what breed would you NOT have again----which ones didn't stick

Buff Minorcas - they are quite unfriendly and get wigged out faster than any of the others...though they are good layers.

Barred Holland - I ordered 3 of them because they're supposed to be very calm and I knew the rest of my order would be on the spastic side. They are not friendly and have very little personality. I'm hoping the egg size increases till next year also.

I do want to note that I have been pleasantly surprised by my white leghorns & black minorcas. The white leghorns are the first to follow me around, accept treats from hand and walk on my legs if I'm sitting in the grass supervising the free range time. The brown leghorns and black minorcas run a close second in those depts. Not that they're lining up for hugs & kisses but I do find them to be great curious companions that I occasionaly get to pet.

My delawares are aggressive too.

They have cannibalized a couple of my ameraucanas. I am crossing one with an ameraucana to see if I can produce a better bird.

My first ones were like that from a week old, my Vampire Chicks. At several weeks old, I sold all of them, pullets included. Mine current Delawares from a breeder that are now 17 weeks old are like an entirely different breed. I'm even planning to expand the breeding group in the spring. I'd like to see one crossed with an Ameraucana-post pics of it if you do that, Jean!

I hate our barred rocks. The rooster is mean; the hens are bullies. I'd never buy EE's again either. They are pretty birds but ours don't lay very well; one doesn't lay at all.

We don't have RIR roos but we do have hens and they are fantastic layers but very skittish birds.

I'll never have bantam anythings again. Too flighty and the roo was mean.

I absolutely adore my buff orps - rooster and hens are very friendly. DBF says if he ever does it over, he'll have nothing but black sex links. Great egg layers and fairly friendly. Red sex links are ok but the blacks are better in our opinion. That's all we have so I can't comment on the other breeds.
 
We got our BR's, RIR's, EE's and red/black sex links all from My Pet Chicken.com over a year ago. They have all been healthy and excellent layers (except the EE's) but not nearly as friendly as others have described. There must definitely be a difference with hatchery birds. I got my BO's from Meyer and have noticed a huge difference in personality (very positive), but that might just be the nature of the birds, I don't know.
 
Never had quail and don't want anything that small...don't like OEG as they look too tall and thin, haven't had those either.

Love my banty flock, very wonderful roo, he was wild and a terrorist before I got him, all I did was talk to him and he's wonderful w/the hens and the chicks.

The BO's are wonderful, too, but mine are bottomless pits. My youngest RIR hen, Peppermint Patty is the biggest egg layer and in the chicken world, she'd be a biker chick, always flying over the 8' fence to greet me in the morning and after work!

Not sure if I like my GLW's yet...they aren't as friendly and a bit aggressive to other breeds...

Love my feather footed bantams, they are clean, sweet, talkative, love to be held and visit w/me, they are the ones who the older bantams watch and decided I was "one of them" so everyone's friendly now:)

Am Buff geese are absolutely the greatest and the Cayuga/Crested ducks are real quackers, totally enjoy those birds!

Learning about the silkies...they were the only chicken I thought I'd want...LOL and the last ones I got so far;)

I'm going to convert at some point to bantams- but keep my ducks and geese, too.

mine are hatchery, too, out of 11, as the youngest breeds I have, 2 have begun laying last week but I'm still waiting over winter to see if they sweeten up...can always eat them later;)
