SO, What's everybody got in your incubators?

I've got Millie sitting on three RIR's, and four American Dominiques (AD's?).
I'm hoping to add a couple of Aurecana Americana (AA's?) eggs I purchased on ebay last week, but I haven't gotten them yet.

I have just started and got way more than I intended. Soooo I have 12 barred rock, 4 hamburgs, 7 rhode island reds, 15 Frizzles, some button quail and a couple bob whites. Ouch! I just started and couldn't quit. Plus when I asked for some eggs I didn't think I would get quite this big of a response. I ended up with about 15 extras that just got thrown in there. Does any one know a good number for a backyard flock? The rest will go out to the farm when their big enough.

Ok...I'll jump in...first time hatching...all Silkie eggs (mine).

There's 5 under a broodie Silkie due early next week.

There's 11 in the bator due in about two weeks.

And there are another 3 under another Silkie...about 2 1/2 weeks away.

Karen

I need a web cam for the ones that are due when I'm at work next week....has any one done that?

Citychick,
I know what you mean:rolleyes:!
I just wanted a few companions for Millie, so I got 3 RIR fertile eggs to her to sit on.
Somehow I've lost control ( I blame this forum:lol:) and now we're up to 3 RIR, 4 AD, and 6 AA all due the week of 2/12. I've invested in a brooder for that batch
What's more, I've got 4 OB, 4 BR, and 4 BO on order to arrive that week for the incubator - (also a new aquisition!)
I'm expanding the chicken run to three times its current size and will have to expand the coop:rolleyes:
though, I am planning to thin the impending 'flock' of all roosters and give away a few hens.
In short, I've decided, chickens are addicting!

Citychick it is your flock. Have as many as you feel you can care for properly. It can take a lot of your time. Buying feed and building coops can get expensive. In years past when I was much newer at having chickens I ended up having so many that I began to get stressed out. I had to sell off some of the flock to get it to an amount that I was comfortable caring for. The idea here is to enjoy your birds! It should be fun! Some work to care for them, but FUN!!!

Soonerdog, I just gotta say.... I LOVE YOUR ROOSTER on your avatar. I have a red pyle roo too, and he is my favorite! I hope to put some of them in the bator, but I don't have any hens!

I have several OEGB's- just no red pyles.

Well, I just had to post this:
Here's photo of the corner of my desk

Those are three Araucana eggs in there, temperature holding nicely at 100.
Has anyone ever used one of these toys before? (My husband calls it a UFO:rolleyes:)
I call it a toy because its so tiny, I suppose better suited for 'feathered mice'!
Is there really room for three hatchlings in there?

Aww that's cute. Good luck I hope all of your eggs hatch!
What I have in my incubator right now... air and dust! Hopefully that will change soon with some cochin eggs, and later with some eggs from my own chickens when they start laying. Man, I am so jealous of you all!
P.S. Mudhen, when are they due? I bet you don't even know :p Kidding!

I do! I actually do know!!

(Of course I have to look at the date I wrote on the eggs, because I have no memory)
These three are due on the 18th!

It goes well with your avatar! LOL I have used it, and it does work! I hatched one chick out of it, anyway. I'm ready to try again. I had 3-4 banty eggs in it. The only thing I would suggest is to use a sponge to keep humidity up. Good luck!
