Aart, what do you think about the chooks regarding the eclipse? I'm driving to upstate NY, so i wont be home with the chickens when eclipse happens and now having second thoughts about leaving them.Won't need to travel, will see it (99%) right here in my yard.
Already got my glasses, supplied by the local library.
Well that doesn’t look good.I guess I ordered eclipse glasses for nothingView attachment 3793800
You have nothing to worry about. Your birds will be just fine. Don't let hype and uninformed media sources put you off of what will be a spectacular show.Yea, but suddenly worried about the chooks???!!!!!
Enjoy! Green with envy here - Australia misses out on all the good stuffAnybody planning on traveling to see it?

This is hilariously incorrect. There is no abrupt change in light. Eclipses last an hour or more. Even at totality, it's dusk. Not pitch blackness. Most animals don't care at all. They're not looking up at the sky wondering why the lights went out. Do they freak out at sunrise or sunset? Those behaviors are what you can expect to see.
I'm curious as to when the sun had a abrupt dimmer switch.
