Solstice Eclipse

I set am alarm, woke everyone in the house up, and went outside to stare at the red Moon. It was below freezing and I was in my bathrobe and socks. I got a couple of pictures and came back in.

Now I'm WIDE awake and reading BYC because it's too cold to get out of bed to do anything else!

Off to read the rest of this thread...

Too cloudy here

I've taken around 450 pictures and plan to be going back out to take more in intervals but that 58* weather is too chilly for me! (I know I know, but I'm Texan. Cold concrete at your back for 2 hours is no fun.)

I didn't think that we would see much since it has been raining for three days here in California. I went out at 11pm AND the sky was clear and I could see the sun starting to cover the moon. I watched it totally eclipse the moon. Then some clouds strolled in. By the time they left, the moon was uncovered and bright red!!

Totally awesome!!

BTW I called all my daughters at 11pm and MADE them go outside to watch!!

Happy Solstice everybody !
Tried staying up for the eclipse but the clouds stayed thick. At least I found this thread. Made me feel much better about it.

Today is also our anniversary. I made sure to pick a wedding day he'd remember.
Thanks for posting the wonderful story about Mother Winter. I hadn't heard that before. I'll be showing him the Newgrange link in the morning. He was complaining yesterday that he wished he could be there for solstice.

too hazy here, couldn't see the moon at all............ Not happy!

But, I do wish everyone a happy solstice today.
