Just got through this thread and the black toes were no exaduration! (sp) Wow! I'm so glad to know that she is in your care. I hope she will heal and be able to move on with her life soon. But she seems like a tuffy. I think it can be done.

If I ever had a bird like that in my care, I don't think I could have dealt with it.

Traumeel, it's homeopathic, you can get it in a drugstore (in Canada) or a health store. Works like a charm. Used it on my dogs, cats, & rabbits when every they had surgery, or have been beaten up, or sick. Crush it up and slide it into their beaks or dilute in 1 tbsp distilled water and give it to them with a dropper.

There is a long list of ingredients in Traumeel, but some of the main are: Arnica, Belladonna, Chamomile, Aconitum, Echinacea. Traumeel helps in the aid of trauma, shock, healing. I'm sure you can look it up on the web.

Awwwww she is such a cutie, so glad you are there angel, takeing care of them.
it looks like she also got frost bite on the other foot to, her toe looks black, she will loose that part of that toe.
she will get around just fine though.

I have a ringneck pheasant hen that lost most of her toes to a dog attack, some that night others fell off later. She still is a happy, healthy bird and has laid very well for me. Her name is Socks, as she looked like she was wearing one due to the bandages....

I'm addicted to this thread. I must've read it 4 times. I hope she can peg leg around and be OK!

, and she is up and walking on it, I been wrapping it and putting extra gauze to pad her foot like a shoe and she goes on a walking. Seems to be happy, and really don't seem to notice her toes are gone. She tries scratching her head with her little nub. but I think Iam gonna start thinking of a permanent "boot', or "shoe" for her to walk on. lol because without it her foot is shorter on that side and she has to hop, but right now with the gauze booty i have on her it is just the right size. Any ideas on a foot shoe for a chicken?
