Someone brought their non-service poople into the grocery store!!!

Hehehe, my dog likes, no... LOVES to wait in the car at the store.
I mean, yeah she wants to go in because she's been to Petsmart and Petco so she thinks stores are fun, but she's plenty happy to sit in the car. I sometimes grocery shop after dark so she can be in the car without the sun heating it up.
Sometimes we walk to the gas station to get a coke and they *might* bend the rules if I asked, but I don't expect special treatment - she waits outside the glass door where I can see her and again we go at night so there is very little traffic to bother her.


I change MY schedule (shop at night) if I want to take the dog to the store, I don't expect the whole world to revolve around me. That's what's wrong with people - they're stuck in the 2 year old mentality that the entire world revolves around whatever they happen to want at this moment.

I don't like dogs (non service) in stores. A pet store is fine but other than that, nope. I went TSC one day and this guy had a HUGE pit bull/mastif mix on a leash. That thing had to weigh over a hundred pounds

. I heard him tellin people that "oh he is so sweet" and " he is just a big baby". Well I was in line checking out and he was behind me. When I turned around and looked at him (the dog) he had that look on his face like he was fixing to start growling and that he wasn't too happy. I carry a firearm on me for personal protection at all times and I would have used it in a flash if that dog had done anything that put me or anybody else at risk.

This may make some folks mad but to me, animals aren't people too. There is a difference in a dog and a kid. One is an animal. One is a human.

I've seen people in stores and restaurants who were dirtier and less well-behaved than any dog I've ever seen. I've been in countries where lots of people take their dogs everywhere they go, and nobody thinks anything of it.

I'd have asked for the manager, asked for the manager's name and for the store number, and address, then whipped out my cell phone and called the health department right in front of the store manager. Then I'd have asked for the number for the corporate headquarters.

It would be very much worth the 411 charge on my bill to see the managers face. Even if it is after hours, I'd have 'left a message' even if they didn't have a voice mail I'd have pretended they did.

One problem with the service dog law is you truly can't tell a service dog from a non service just by looks... I have a very close friend who has a 3 lb Chihuahua seizure dog.. Just by looking at her you would think its a lil pet but watch that pup right before a seizure starts and shes all business... I work hotels and it makes it very hard when folks want to bring animals in because of how the Disability act works.. Personally I don't mind having well behaved dogs in stores there mno dirtier then half the people in there..

I love my dog, but I would never take her inside ANY STORE except Pet Smart and we've done that a couple of times.

The rule is there though to protect us, and the store, from people who have no manners. It's hard enough for store employees to keep the place clean, and we'd all be complaining about it if it weren't. Picking and choosing which dogs are well mannered, is just too much to ask. The health dept codes are there to protect our food, what we do with it when we get it into our own kitchen is our business.

I understand why the rules are there.. I was just stating my opinion ..

And pointing out that guide dogs arent the only service dogs and they come in all shapes and sizes..
