Yea the comb made me think leghorn too, either way male or female the name still works lol And hubby and I were going to be putting up another coop for the 'pet' chickens, although aside from the meaties they're all basically pets
I mean we sell eggs from our RIRs and we're planning on keeping up a good layer flock though considering they were our first chickens, some of them might make it to the 'pet' coop when they're older.
If he/she makes it, what do you think I'll get if I cross Lucky with one of my reds?
Not sure, but if Lucky ends up being a pullet, survives, and hatches a clutch, you need to let us know. She probably won't go broody if she's a leghorn, but...

not entirely true they arnt a very broody breed but i have a very good broody leghorn shes on day 9 she gets off in the morning to eat and do her business.
glad that she/he is up - hopefully she/he will perk right up. we were thinking of how that poor little bird had to so bad -- and he's probably smirking 'how do you like me now!' to whoever threw him out. guess he has the last laugh!!
Yea I suppose he did, so far he's being spoiled more than my flock of reds lol today he's become a 'lap chicken' though in MY opinion it's not a bad thing, but hubby keeps reminding me of the off chance that he/she is possibly a meatie and I understand the fact that they were bred for that but for his/hers and my sake I REALLY REALLY hope Lucky's just a white rock, cornish or leghorn
