Made a posting of processors by state and I can't find it [IMG] Please Help!

I seen the PDF file from the USDA that someone posted but those are all big time processors like Tyson and so on. I would like to get meat birds but there is nooooo way hubby will help process them so I was hoping to find someone near me who would.

    Thanks for your help [IMG]

It's on page two near the bottom under:

Small Poultry Processing Plants and Services by States

I would post the quote but not sure how.

I can't seem to locate the USDA list i have a copy of but from other resources here is a of some:

    Poultry Processors
There is only one packing plant in Kansas that will
custom-process small flocks of companies under state
inspection. If you have or will have birds to process,
you should contact them well in advance to make reservations
to have your birds processed. Other plants
may process poultry, however, since they are not state
inspected, this processing is done on a custom basis.

Just because a poultry processing facility is not USDA inspected does not mean that your can't use them. There are several exceptions the USDA has depending on the intended final consumer, and the source of the poultry.

usda guide Poultry_Slaughter_Exemption_0406.pdf list the criteria for USDA inspection. Many states have there own critria so you need to check your local AG resources
