HB&B :

So started with just a roo...
2 weeks later 2 black star pullets because it just wasn't healthy to have a roo by himself...
then 3 leghorns. because one of our black stars disappeared, and the other wasn't old enough to lay yet and the roo needed more than one girl...
then EE, EE mix, and another black star, cause I just needed a few more to "make the roo happy" and I wanted more than just white eggs...
5 bantam jap mixes, because DH friend just couldn't keep his anymore...
and now I went and got 3 black standard cochins, because I wanted a little more variety...

I cannot stop! I still find myself looking at the chickens for sale on BYC and CL! I just can't help it. I know now that pretty soon I am gonna have a totally full coop and run. I think I am close to my maximum capasity. I keep saying "I just wanna get like 3 Marans and I'll quit." But I keep finding these other birds.

Anyone know of any Chicken Rehabs? Cause I am addicted!

Okay this is another offer, I'll do a custom hatch for you ....I've got a few more dozen eggs to get to people....But how about it....You can have your BCM's, Some wheatan marans, blue/black/splash marans, some Delawares, beautiful blue/black/splash orpingtons, sorry no buffs right about now, beautiful speckled sussex, barred rocks, Gorgeous Lavendar Orpingtons, welsummers (just a few available to you, I'm stocking for next year, mmmm, How about some ducks to round it out or guineas..... And don't forget we have heritage RIR's that are great, I do have some very nice split/black/lav orpington pen too, ohh and I have added some very interesting easter eggers and am working toward olive eggers and total poultry insanity.....I know I've forgot something,,,, oh yes no geese now, they quit laying back in May.... Our only "common" flock is our white leghorns ....I think our eeaster eggers are special as we have a guest rooster with them.....Okay enough....

I suffer from addiction....I confess I need help BECAUSE I want coronation sussex and also sebastapol geese and of course some loverly show quality silkies so I don't have to run my incubator year round and I can use them for that! And we have way too many varieties of everything,......My hubby is the Turkeyholic!

Great thread btw...!!!!!

I bought an incubator that only holds 7 eggs because I knew I could go wild. Finally dove into hatching eggs for the first time, and those chicks (5 of 'em) are currently in the brooder, two weeks old. I bought TWO MORE INCUBATORS - all three of them the same size because of course I don't want to go wild, right? But if I got ONE larger one, I couldn't do staggered hatches of different breeds. At least I thought I couldn't. Anyway, two of those small incubators are full again, and the third is awaiting some more eggs I've already requested from a breeder.

PLUS I was at the feed store just slightly over a week ago, and there were light Brahma and black Jersey Giant pullet chicks.... so I got one of each and put them in the brooder with the week old olive egger chicks I'd hatched.

I am in exactly the same metaphysical boat of chicken addiction. I cannot stop. They are too freakin' cute. And I absolutely adore sitting and watching the flock in the yard. It's so peaceful.... and when it's not peaceful, it's hilariously funny to watch.

This is only SOME of my beloved flock:

I started with 3 ee chicks well one was roo and like you said 2 hens not enough , then the roo got really mean so he was rehomed. bought 3 more chicks home from a swap and one was a roo.. Not sure how it all happened but now I have 18 chickens ranging from 3 weeks to teens to 3 year old. 3 geese (don't ask) and 2 muscovies just because they were sooo cute. And a partridge in a pear tree lol. I still wand D'uccles. Son want's a rabbit now...It never ends.

As long as you can care for them properly and have the room to keep them i wouldn't worry about addiction .

There are much much worse addictions that can kill you and destroy many lives around you.
