Someone please help, I don’t know what’s wrong with my chicken

At first I thought she was egg bound so I did a lot of research so on the first day she looked really ill I gave her a warm bath and massaged her, I separated her from the other two chickens and made sure she was warm and comfy but because this is the first time anyone in my family has had chickens I don’t have any Epson salt or medication and she still hasn’t got all the signs that she’s egg bound

It looks like she is suffering from the after effects of being a battery hen. Glad you are trying help her. :hugs

Then again, she could just be egg bound... it wouldn’t hurt to give her a warm epsom salt bath just in case.

@casportpony might have some thoughts on the poop picture. :fl
Because she was a battery hen I think that may be adding to the problem and I just feel so sorry for her, I love her like she’s my baby

So you haven't physically checked?
She may not display all the signs.
She's puffy, straining and in obvious distress.
If there is anything in there shell, egg etc her body will wear itself out trying to pass it.
You won't hurt her, and it is the only way to tell if it isn't something more serious.

Infectious Coryza
You will know that your birds have caught this disease when their heads become swollen. Their eyes will literally swell shut and their combs will swell. ... Once your chickens contract this disease they should be put down.
Can you see the pictures of her eyes about?
They are not pus swollen shut.

Welcome to BYC! Is a vet an option? I ask because I don't think that what she has can be treated without medication and I think she needs some fluids ASAP.

Her poop looks like it has blood and mucus in it, and lots of urates. Could be an infection, worms, coccidiosis, a stuck egg, or a combination.

To check for a stuck egg, very gently insert your finger in her vent. This shoud help you visualize where the egg should be.

You really do need to check. Think how much better she will feel once she gets that egg passed, if that is the problem!!

My big concern from the first post, was white eyelids? I do wonder about worms, but think she has a more immediate issue on top of that.

Another vote for eggbound from me.

I’m just scared that with her being so ill if I check she may have a heart-attack
