Something is wrong with my chicken

So I just decided to let my chickens out of their run to play a bit and one of my those island reds didn’t want to come out when usually they all come running out to play. So I checked her out and it looks like her bottom is weeping clear fluid. Does anyone know what that means?

Most likely vent gleet. Its usually caused by something else. Its a yeast infection. Clean her backside really well and check for sour crop. Does her breath smell? Check her crop.

Weeping clear fluid from her vent opening? Does it look like water or egg whites? Is her lower belly full or enlarged? Has she recently been laying? I would separate her on a clean towel in a basket or dog crate, and bring her inside where you can observe her well. Offer her some water, and give a few drops of Poultry NutriDrench up to 2 ml daily. Just to rule out egg binding or a broken egg, insert a finger into her vent 1-2 inches (where a disposable glove if you have one.)

So we brought her inside and cleaned her vent. She ended up laying an egg that was very very soft. I gave her some water with acv since that’s all I have right now until I go to the store. I was told maybe a little bit of yogurt in food? Thanks for the help.

I just checked on her and she had laid a second egg in the night and seems to be feeling better. She’s eating and clucking now. Should I bring her back into the run with the others or keep her separated?

I would give her some calcium—a human cacium tablet with vitamin D3, a Tums, or a crushed and ground up egg shell with a little bit of cooked egg which has D3.) Repeat that for 3-5 days or until her shells are normal and hard. Then place her back in the run with the other chickens. Watch her behavior for a repeat of yesterday. Frequently these episodes will happen again.

It sounds like she was temporarily eggbound. Go ahead and put her with the rest of the flock. Next time this occurs, put her in a container of warm water up to her sides and gently massage her underside front to rear to encourage her to lay the egg. The warm water will relax and expand her innards to help move the egg along. Soak her for about 20 minutes or so and repeat as necessary.
