@MysteryChicken you nailed it! How weird. Now we know. It appears there is no real treatment for it. Best to euthanize the rooster.

In the past when folks have posted similar conditions, it was thought that perhaps the swelling was due to bee/insect bite.
Anyway, I don't recall any of the birds surviving since they were unable to stay hydrated and the swelling often caused respiratory distress.
Very sad indeed.
