Somone, please answer my questions! :(((

I think the sooner the splint is in place the faster it will work. It will be lonely though. A stuffed animal would help keep it company.

I found it pretty challenging to put the band aid on myself. I had my DH hold her legs still while I put the splint on. I think it would be nearly impossible to do alone. Do you have someone who can help?

Noone to help right now. I've done the band-aid method with another chick before,

maybe it will go smooth like it did then, with this little guy..Hang on, about to

go get some band-aids

Chicks do not NEED food or water for 2 days after hatching. That's why day old chicks can be shipped in the mail. Your baby should be fine if he's going to make it, he'll make it. Do NOT cut the cord. Leave it. It will go away. Over time, he'll gain strength and be able to be moved out of the 'bator. You did good. Just be patient!!

ETA: sorry... didn't see you had so many great replies already!! Looks like you've already gotten past the 'bator part!

I'll check back tomorrow to see how your little one is doing. Looks pretty content for now.

PS get yourself to the feed store and purchase another chick or two to keep him company. Solitary chicks don't usually do well from what I hear.

ETA add chicks once he's strong enough.

She is this lil guys mom.

Weird. But, I'll definatly ask about a couple more chicks. thanks

Well at least you have experience and success with it!! Everyone I know that has tried has lost their chick... Best of luck to you!! They sure do wiggle into your heart fast, don't they.

NO Gatorade please !! Gatorade is loaded with salt to replace what is lost from dehydration. I've always heard salty stuff is very bad for chickens. Polyvisol infant vitamins (without iron) are available at Walmart .
