Soon to be bantam flock owner.

They are shipping them all tomorrow, so should arrive Friday. Between chicks and basic supplies, shelled out almost 300 bucks, and that doesn't include coops, fencing, etc. Phew. Nervous and excited. I have researched everything I could. Can just hope they are healthy upon arrival and remain that way.

Hi, just joined a few days ago and skipped this step, but I suppose I should say hello. I am used to chickens that roam free, and roost in your yard, are in the street, on the sidewalks, etc. There were chickens (red junglefowl mainly w/ some crosses, all different color combos) all over the streets of my hometown, Key West. I recently bought a house in rural western N.C., south of Fontana Dam, and after almost a year here would like some pets. I don't have any dogs, cats, kids, or anything around the property except my wild birds I feed. Am expecting white polish, silver laced polish, wcb polish, white silkies, and assorted frizzle cochin. The chickens I'm used to in Key West run around outside their first day born, but are wild, so I am heavily preparing and researching (very excited) about the breeds I got. I'm a newb to these breeds, but no newb to being around chickens. Posting some of my kw photos. These birds I am getting will be my pets, though I may try to sell some roosters to good homes or give to neighbors if I get too many (only straight runs were available). I love any animal in my care, but not into extreme chicken snobbery, like hardcore purists, or extremism of any kind. I joined because most questions I googled ended up at this site, and seems can share questions, excitement, etc, with other happy chx owners. I am counting the minutes till my babies arrive. So I got them, all healthy so far. None died on trip. I have 2 that are kind of mysteries to me. One is slightly gray on back and slightly smaller that the others, feathered feet. I got white silkies and assorted cochin, but cochins were supposed to be black, white, or red. I definitely have black ones, but this little grayish one, not sure. The other mystery one is slightly larger than all the rest, and is red, feet are not feathered, so it can't be a cochin. The only ones I ordered without feathered feet were polish, but I only got white, silver lace, and white crested, so not sure what is up with the red one. It may be an extra of some other kind, but I wouldn't have the slightest clue as to what. These are pics of the two mystery ones. They are the smallest and the largest of all the rest. The black cochin, red cochin, white polish, white crested polish, and white silkies all look like they should. These were the only two that were a little different.
