LOL nah what's so crazy is dad was BlueJG and Mom was Red Partridge...and You get this!!!!! Those EE's can throw Wild Colors I am learning....

Does anyone sell Delaware chickens here? I have a friend looking for a rooster. I don't remember seeing anyone in the Upstate selling them though.

So I hatched out 10 chickens large fowl in my hatch 8 weeks ago. I have at least 5 roosters and now tonight I heard another one of them start cock a doodling. So it looks like I have at least 6 roosters! That is not a very impressive male to female ratio! lol!!!! Do roosters go Bok and cock a doodle do? Can hens have a deep bok?

I don't know about the Delawares, but you may want to check the SC Department of Agriculture's Market Bulletin http://agriculture.sc.gov/article_List.aspx?ChannelID=740. I recently located four-month-old silver laced wyandotte hens for sale in an archived edition's want ads for "Poultry." Good luck!

Really? You can definitely have him! As funny as it might sound I would be honored to have him in a project of yours! lol! I do believe it is from an egg from Sam's farm!

leirob--that is an unreal number of chickens to have lost. There is a lot of that going around and I am having trouble finding some freshly laid eating eggs!! I can't believe how many predators you have caught--it is amazing you have any chickens left!!

OK here is a full body picture of my chicken.




For culling a chick I put it in a baggie and then put it in the freezer. I don't know if this was the best or not. I chose to believe it got cold so fast that it just went to sleep and did not notice. I liked this better than actually having to do something to it.

Okay, Sam Bam, what did you cross to get this beauty? I think this a a beautiful bird! I have a hen that would cross great with this! Now I have to put some extra roos in the freezer to make room in a pen for a breeding project. This looks to have buff Orp and Wyandotte? But then there is that black barring in the tail and Columbian neck feathering. Too cool!

He is Buff orp hen and BLRW roo!! They all seem to come out like this!! I think I am going to hatch a few to add back as layer/meat birds here also!! Lucky my yard roo is daddy and not Gus...so its a Splash BLRW roo...

Ok so I have been lurking but not slowing down long enough to chat on here!! So I just want to say HI and hope all are doing well. I am dealing with Fowl pox in one of my coops...so far seems isolated there but I am daring those darn skeeters to spread it more...otherwise all is good here!

I did get a call today offering me an interview for a full time position with the school district...I have tried for 3 years to get in a classroom and have interviewed several times with no luck.Those positions I applied for...this one I did not even know about...they called me...I am not sure what to do.I have been working hard to get the farm going and if I go to work full time I may have to give alot up and scale way back =( I was hoping to turn this into a little something but the guaranteed money would be nice right now...but there is no guarantee that I would have a job next school year either and I would not be able to do many of the fall shows and swaps...ack...what to do??????
