Thanks for the welcome! There definitely seems to be a lot of transplants in the area... And more every day.

What kind of predators do you face? I've seen a fox a few times so that is my biggest concern. I'm really hoping my dogs will adopt the chicks and become protectors as well as making the coop as predator proof as possible.
I battle skunks here...LOL
 
Oh! How could I forget...fire ants! Any tried and true ways to get rid of them without hurting chickens? I read about molasses in another thread but am skeptical.

Hey. I noticed you on the Heritage Reds site. When you want some great Heritage Reds we can talk. I have some of Ron's line. He has the Ricky Bates line now. Awesome awesome birds. I will update the pics of my birds I got from Ron this year.No need to drive all over the country when I'm not very far from you.
