South Carolina

We're gathering up a few bantam chicks off the farm, I'm letting my youngest choose which ones she'd like as her birthday chicks I'll have a few for sale, the parents are really beautiful mixed breed black colored bantams, and are wonderful foragers. I wish the mother was tamer she is truly a sight to see in the sunlight with all her beautiful iridescent black feathering, with their blue sheen.

So far she's hatched out 2 brown/black and 2 silver/grey
we're anxious to see what if any comes off next.
watch for photos of what we'll be getting rid of.

Yep! Dh agreed to 6 a couple of years ago to 'give me something to do while everyone is away during the day.' I had 60 this past winter. Even with hatching from January until (hopefully) last hatch next week including broody I have done good enough to get my numbers down to about 30, not counting the 16 chicks in the brooder or the 13 eggs in lockdown or the 9 in the incubator:)
