You gave me 5 eggs! It was 100% for them!

Yeah, the little Runner ducklings that Huggs the Muscovy hatched are out all over the farm with her. She keeps their little legs going. But when she sits down they crawl under for a nice nap.
I am so ready to put the Cayuga and Pekin ducklings out in a permanent pen. They are big!

Kimberly, is Nicole still upset over losing Duck Duck? Maybe Boyfriend will help a bit. If Duck Duck acted anything like Boyfriend then I know she was very attached!

Today is Day 17 for the eggs from Nadine. I hope all the Marans hatch. My two Silkie boys are in a tractor with their two red hens (I think they are Red Sex Links). I added four eggs from them about 12 hours after I started the Maran eggs, so I'll probably wait until late tomorrow to take them out of the turner.

This morning as I was feeding the flock, Aratoo was running after Early Bird (a Christmas baby). He was so funny, running just as fast as he could. Early Bird flew away from him. She maintains she is still too much of a baby to be mated. I've got to get busy building again so I can give Aratoo a girlfriend.

Oh yeah, Aratoo thinks he is God's gift to hens!

I seem to be in the middle of building or trying to build half a dz coops and pens. Terry started me a brooder last Sunday after he broke the lawnmower.....again. At least he did something so I would not fuss at him. Today I hope to get more materials at Lowes but I think after seeing my accountant I wonl;t have any money to go back to Lowes for a while. I hate financial crap. Mostly because I never seem to have any money.

Your Silkie mix eggs should still hatch earlier than the Marans eggs. Darker eggs tend to take longer and anything banty takes less. But mixed with sex links I suppose it could take a full 21 days.
I hope all your Marans hatch, too. I seldom have any that do not hatch.
I have one still in the 'bator from this last hatch. It developed but hasn't pipped. I do not hear anything in the shell so I think it died.

On a good note, I have 10 dark Brahmas that hatched out! Finally!!! Now to grow them up and try to find another bloodline. I am not sure how many I will actually raise but I like them this year and am excited about watching them grow. Along with d'Uccles I added this year. I now have 32 d'Uccles but several Porcelains are so itty bitty I do not think they will ever survive. They are 3 1/2 weeks old and still the size of when they hatched. Too adorable but so fragile looking. Their hatch mates are growing fine and have moved out of the small brooder. It was one particular breeder so it may be just their line. Guess what I added to the water?

I know she still misses him a lot. Yeah Boyfriend has taken up with Nicole like Duck Duck did. Even her little duck named Butler from you doesn't snuggle and love on her like Boyfriend. Butler seems to be wanting to be with ducks more as he gets bigger. He does still love to preen her though. Boyfriend seems to ignore other chickens when Nicole is around

Has anyone here seen the Egg Face thread under Games??? It is fabulous! I was rolling on the floor with a few of them. Definitely putting on my thinking cap and trying.

As if we couldn't get enough chicks this is the only one I could get a hand on, momma left it in the tall grass and it wouldn't follow her back to the nest. Yes its just a barnyard mix but its still cute. there are 4 so far I'll try to get more when I see her out with them again.

Totally cute, Karen!

Hey, PM me if you want Debra's phone number for those shipping crates. It is in my cell phone or else I would say call me.

On a sad note, I was picking up the bowls and tubs that I feed the free range chickens in at the front of the barn and flipped over a metal bowl only to find a chick(& weeks old) dead under it! I seldom cry at my age but I wept over this poor creature! How many times did I walk past this bowl today and not know a chick was under it needing help? I am sure the lack of air and the heat killed it. MOF, it could have been there since last night and I did not notice to turn the bowl over.

Yes, I know chicks should not be out. It was a silver laced bantam Cochin and lately the chicks are tired of the brooder room and are pouring out to enjoy fresh grass and sunshine. Not to mention it gets overly warm in that room even with the window and the screen door up.
I vow to be a better mom and be more careful!

OMG!!! what a storm in our area. I was able to get the smaller chicks and silkies closed up in the coops before the storm hit.
A couple of my smaller bee hives were blown off the stands and turned upside down. Several lids were blown off the heavier hives.
Bricks were even blown off some. A lot of wet bees.

Will check them closer in the next few days to make sure the queens are okay.

We had several trees that were damaged. My MIL lost the roof off of a building in her back yard. The wind picked it up and carried it spinning over two pickups and laid it down in the garden. DH and his cousins are going to clean that up this morning for her. Then we start cleaning up the damage on our farm.

Power was off til 10:15 last night. I have turkey eggs that belong to a friend in the incubator. Today is supposed to be hatch day.
I covered the bator with a blanket. Hopefully they will just be a little late hatching.

I also have a 3 month old silkie that can't walk and I do not want to have to put it down.

Well that is enough whining.
