South Carolina

You can get free wooden pallets at most medical supply. I built my coop almost free between the pallets, freewindows and door from Craigs list and used traler underpinning on roof. Really just had to pay for nails & screws.

I just need a chicken that is broody a lot

My Silkies are great to sit and hatch my peafowl out for me.
However, I also have an old free range hen that is a Gold Laced Wyandotte that has raised keets, ducks and chicks for me. I have one Olive Egger hen that stays broody more than she lays! Drives me nuts so I threw her out of the breeding pen and into the free range flock where she stays in the nest box and screams at me every day. LOL
Sometimes it is the birds personality that makes them a great broody. I do like my Silkies to hatch for me though and that is the only reason I have them.

Im in pauline (southern spartanburg), looking for currently laying pullets to lay through the winter. I am looking for about 10, looking for golden comets, production red, blue to mint laying ees, olive eggers, or bcm. Plz let me know what you have and how much :) :)
