I have 4 donkeys which have been useless in protecting the livestock! But the coyote trap worked.

I don't have an LGD. I have a blind & deaf old lab who doesn't even know when I pull in. Oh, well! We have one hawk we've seen that stays up at the front of the farm and two little birds that chase it off when it heads back towards the chickens. They must have a nest there somewhere. So far I havent' lost any chickens to anything except the 3 dogs we used to have. They were rehomed after they killed most of our goats. Which of course the donkeys watched.

Right now I'm getting 4 dozen eggs a day and I have 30 EE that will start laying soon. It's too much! I'm focusing more on breeding going forward. I have one commercial account but they don't sell as much as I get.

I'm definitely keeping my Marans and Ameraucanas and Silkies. And I'm going to keep my Big Cochins. Those are my breeders. I'm trying to decide who else I can part with! I have a lot of EE that lay all shades of green and blue. I have 3 Light Brahma and 2 Buff Brahma. I have 3 Partridge Rocks and a Dominque. Then the teeny ones: 4 serama hens, 3 bantam cochin hens (2 barred and 1 black), a smooth silkie/cochin hen. I have a bunch of chickens that are close to laying: 30 EE, 2 Columbian Rocks, and some Olive Eggers.

I also have some Olive Egger roos and 2 Wheaten Sizzle Roos (one frizzled and one smooth). Anyone wants those, come get them!

So if you're interested in any of those, let me know. I need to talk to my children and see who they are willing to part with. We have so many EE that I know they won't miss a couple!

I meant to add that I will have Wheaten Marans hatching eggs by next month and probably chicks. I have 4 gorgeous hens and one awesome roo and just need to get them separated so they can make some hatching eggs for me! I love the Wheatens. They are so friendly! And silly.

I've got all the mainstays; RIR, White leghorns, Buff Orpington, EE, Splash. I was looking for something for exotic like Silkies or Polich Lace.

I still have three really hadsome White Leghorn Cockrels that need a home. They are starting to chest butt each other and that means overturned food and water.

I have a great flock of silkies and if they start laying a bit more, I'll have eggs/chicks next month. I spent a lot of money on this intial stock and bought quality silkies from people who show. I'm very happy with them!

I have a some eggs in the bator that should hatch next week. I would love to get some silkie eggs from you when your girls start producing more. My grandkids love that I have so many different kinds a chickens.

Is everyone paddling out in their yards yet?

I am about to go put as many up as I can. I do not want to be out there after dark trying to get birds put up or convincing them it is not funny to watch me run in the shed, grab the rope for the pop door only to see a heathen slip out before I get the door down. Then I run back outside, yell at them to get their chickie arse back in the coop and when I see them run back in so do I, only to have another think it is a fun game!

You would not believe how many nights we go through this "game"! It has been 7 pm or after sometimes when I finally convince them the boogey man will get them.

Heathens! The lot of them!

Going to get my paddle now.......

Ha! It's a mess out there for sure! It wasn't raining about 2:00 and I needed to go to TSC before picking up the kids from school. Of course it started downpouring while I was in there and I didn't have a hood. I was out in the pouring rain trying to get two pine shaving bags in my trunk which wouldn't fit so I threw one in my passenger seat and then forgot I had a bag of feed on the cart. By the time I got in the car, I was soaking wet. Even my mascara was running. My kids got in the car and said "What happened to you?"

I really hate that it's raining again. My runs were still muddy from the other day.

My horse barn has a serious issue with water coming in from the stalls. Poor horses need a paddle.

Not sure if anyone remembers, but two weeks ago yesterday my incubator went kaput with eggs on day seven. Wasn't sure what to do, but the next day I was able to add them to my father in laws incubator. I didn't really think the eggs would have still been good. They went a while without heat. I came home from work today, and one had already hatched. The nosy side of me had to check out the other eggs. You can hear them pecking and chirping inside!!! Guess I'll have some more pretty soon
